I received and watched Erin Brockovich last night and boy was I pleasantly surprised. Even though the film has a highly stylized look, the overall detail is fantastic, with only a few of the more stylized scenes lacking in the detail department. However, the image is always bright and vibrant, with very little-to-no film grain present. Even the dark interior scenes taking place at night have tremendous black levels and are free of "blu-noise" :p There is never any lack of depth to the image, and while the contrast is obviously tweaked up a tad, colors and whites are very stable.
The audio was also great. Even though the film is very dialogue driven and most of the sounds are coming from the front speakers, when Thomas Newman's score ques in, the subwoofer thumps and the room comes alive.
For fans of this movie, this really is a must-have! I was really worried about how the picture would look when I ordered this film, but it far exceeded my expectations. :)
