Hi All,

I wondered who here is going to purchase TW2008? Is anyone anticipating much of a difference between the new version of TW2008 over 2007?

I actually stopped purchasing allot of EA Sports games over the last few years mainly because there really wasn’t many changes or extra effort put into the "Next-Gen" Titles. Some of the time features were actually removed!. FIFA is a great example, Was good about 6 years ago and has now been surpassed by Konami's Pro Evolution Soccer series in everything but shiny graphics and licensing.

I read recently a review of NASCAR 08 and this is my case in point. Pretty Graphics at the expense of features & Game play = Sloppy!

I will probably purchase TW2008 on August 28th. Mainly because I think it would be an excellent online game with a headset. I just wondered what other people thought of the evolution of EA's sports franchises?

Cheers for reading,

Muttley :)

I am excited for this one, I hope that EA fixed the shortcomings of '07. Mainly the lack of courses and controller configuration.

Your right about EA and thier lack of changes. Could be a lazyness issue, greed issue or lack of passion, who knows. I am going to buy TW08 though, primarly because I don't have the 07 version. It'll be great fun, and always a great game to play with friends.

I know all my friends locally who own PS3 or 360 plan on getting it as well. Now if only 360 users and PS3 users could play online together!

I'm picking it up because work is keeping me as far away from the real thing as they can, and going back to 2006 on the ps2 is painful.

Is it ironic that I am surrounded by golf courses and play tiger woods, or that I live right across from a tennis court and play virtual tennis? if my hectic work schedule keeps up through the winter, I'm going to be virtual snowboarding instead of the real thing :(

Not me....not enough new stuff from 07....and even if there was, the fact that the crowd consist of around 20 people each made up of 3 polygons makes me embarrassed to even put it in my PS3/360

I have been playing Tiger since 2002 and I only played the '07 version on the PS3 version for 3 weeks. Once I found out you couldn't swing with the right stick online I bought a 360 and have been playing Tiger on the 360 ever since. If EA fixes this issue I may get it but at this point I only have it pre-ordered on the 360.

I have been playing in Tiger online leagues for 3 years at thegamesvillage.com (http://www.thegamesvillage.com). They support the game on the PS3, 360 and the PS2 as well.

Should I buy 08 at full price or 07 at a (likely) much-reduced price once 08 comes out? I'm fairly new to gaming and don't plan to play that often so advanced bells and whistles aren't a huge deal -- as long as there aren't any huge glitches or unrealistic gameplay.

What? Granted, I only played online a few times (mainly because the servers were usually barren wastelands), but when I did, the right stick was what I used.

I'm really hoping Tiger Woods 08 doesn’t go the same way as Madden 08!

And I am hoping FIFA 08 doesn’t run at 22 FPS on the PS3 and 60FPS on the Xbox 360.

EA Sports are being so sloppy and Lazy with the PS3 so far, after all the Money the PS2 made for them......If I was Sony i would be having heavy conference calls with EA exec’s to find out what the problem is, and fix it quick!.

Fingers Crossed TW08 and FIFA08 are good titles, or I’m skipping both and buying Konami’s PES2008. (cant go wrong with that!).

Silent Bob - If you don’t plan on playing online, then from what I can tell. There isn’t a radical different between TW07 & TW08.

Major Differences are, Ability to Import your face into game, New Confidence system, Online Challenges, Online Matches. Slightly better graphics (supposedly).

If you can find 07 for cheap (20$) it would be a good investment IMHO.

I spent a long time thinking whether I should get TW2008 or Hotshots Golf 5...after seeing the promo movies and screens, I picked Hotshots Golf 5. Loved seeing famous players and realistic courses, but otherwise...not much of a change and Hotshots evolved quite a bit...

Anyone know what courses are going to be in TW '08?

After seeing the online challenges videos that are out there, it sold me on buying the game this year. I had every year of Tiger on the PS2, didn't buy last years PS3 version because it was junk. '08 looks like it's going to be a lot of fun online.

FIFA 08 is a must for me. I just emailed the framerate Nazi's over at IGN to see if they had any early word on how it was running. I've noticed some videos online at Gametrailers, but everything seems to be for the PS2 that is being shown.

FIFA 07 on the PS2 was good last year, but the slowdowns that occurred when overloading the box made me play it far more on my PSP than on the big screen. Next-gen soccer is a major reason I bought a PS3 and I hope it doesn't disappoint.

Instantpop - The only issue with FIFA is depth of game play. Have you ever played Konami’s PES2007? While the graphics are not at shiny, and there is minimal licensing.
Its one of the few PS2 games I still play regularly on my PS3.

Online in a blast! And over 700-1000 people online at any time.

I actually haven't played too much of the PES franchise. I didn't get into soccer until the World Cup in '06 and I bought FIFA '06. From the reviews that I read in the subsequent year, many felt that FIFA 07 either met or exceeded where PES was at and even called PES stale because it wasn't moving the franchise forward.

FIFA vs. PES is a tough debate in my opinion because you've got such hardcore fanatics on both sides of the fence. I thoroughly enjoyed the offerings in FIFA '07 and thought they got a lot of things right, especially the online play with the real fixtures and all that. It was very engrossing and I can only imagine what they are going to do with it on a next-gen platform.

I know that PES/WE is what the diehards who have been playing it for years will stick with until they die, but my first exposure has been FIFA and I haven't felt let down yet. I may have to rent PES this year, though, and see what it's got. It does come out considerably later than the FIFA franchise historically. Is that the case this year as well? That's another reason FIFA '07 got my bid last year.

Yes PES2008 will first come out in Europe later this year and then in US early 2008.

Lets see what FIFA 08 turns out like, I hope it's good. Let me know if you hear anything back from IGN.

Cheers.

FORE; wtf does FIFA have to do with TW??? anyway...

I might get TW this yr on 360. I havent bought it since the psp in '04. Some friends have been getting it on PS2 though so that's how I've kept up on consoles.

nothing like a casual golf game. Hope the faces come out better than Vegas.

Cog Hill is cool. Wish they'd put in Medinah #3, though. :(

Hey- I'll probably get this one, but maybe not for a while after it comes out. I'll check this thread for people to play with. I'm really looking forward to the photo game face, and the online community. I think it's like taking the challenges from past games, where there'd be like 10 or so, and making an infinite number, defined by the users - cool!
