Okay, so last week I decided that I wanted the whole DVR thing happening in my home and made the call to DISHNET to upgrade to a DVR setup. About 20 minutes later I hung up the phone thinking I've ordered a DVR. Today I received a DP301 Dishnet RECEIVER,,, much like the one I've already got save for a couple extra buttons, but it's not a DVR.

Today I've talked for about an hour to DISHNET (-40 min of ON HOLD time and I still couldn't get a straight answer out of that guy) and I still don't know what the heck is going on except that they didn't process an order for a DVR and I can't order one now from them because they're out of stock.

My question is, does a Dishnet DVR replace the Dishnet receiver altogether or is it a seperate piece of equipment? Is it possible that I need this newer receiver to be compatible with a DVR? Can I just go out and get my own DVR and do you have any recommendations?

Thanks for the help...

The Dish DVR completely replaces the receiver. It is not a separate piece of equipment and will not work with your DP301.

You need to ask for the Dish ViP622.

Thanks,,, I finally got someone on the DISHNET phone that wasn't loaded with double-speak. My account notes show the added 18mo committment and a request for a DVR, but that this stupid receiver was processed instead. "Coincidentally" they are out of stock of the non-HD DVRs.

I had her remove the 18mo committment and now I'm looking at just buying one instead,,, though it might be cheaper just to wait until they've got the DVRs in stock. Any suggestions in that area?

thanks~
