I am trying to collect all kinds of legit sites and companies that are currently offering DRM free music (you guessed right: today's Universal announcement motivates this post). So far I have these:

Commercial

EMI - MP3s @ ??? kbps through iTunes
Universal - TBD
Linn Records - MP3 @ 320 kbps, FLAC/WMA @ 44.1kHz/16bit or 88.2kHz/24 bit or 96kHz/24 bit

Free

Archive.org - MP3s, FLACs, WAVs at all kinds of resolutions

My clear favorites are Linn and Archive, since they offer FLAC and you can find hi-res music there.

Anybody else?

Don't forget DGM which allows DRM free audio files in mp3 and FLAC. The catalog is limited to King Crimson/Robert Fripp releases though and so far, nothing in surround.

Only trouble is that now you have to pay EXTRA for the privilege of DRM free downloads.

It's all about the greenbacks, never about the art, isn't it Hollywood?

I thought so.

I'm in the final stages of development of a site that will offer high definition audio and video tracks without any DRM. The tracks will be available in 21 different flavors and mixes [MP3, DD, DTS, WMA Pro, WMA Lossless, FLAC and 96 kHz/24 PCM - Stereo/5.1 "Audience" and 5.1 "Stage"] THe files are large and will range in cost from $.79 to $2.99 depending on file size. More information coming...soon.

Dr. AIX that do you think about another people get bended from the forum for spamming for just posting information about the artist and you openly doing marketing on this forum? Do you have some special priveleges we don't know about?

Nettwerk Records Offers DRM free MP3 for most of it's recent releases. For the most recent releases, FLAC is also available which actually makes it worthwhile.

I was just checking out the MusicGiants HD download site and noticed that in their "SuperHD" section (which contains DVD-A quality, ie., 96/24) there are some DRM-free downloads. Some of them are even listed as 5.1 surround (thought I'd mention since we're in the surround area :) ).
