to register, i mean.

name, address, etc.

is this thing secure..?

is there anyway to get the content without all the info - like entering info in when paying, but not leaving it stored ad infinitum in the servers..?

maybe i am paranoid, but just because i am paranoid, doesnt mean they arent watching...

your personal info is probably safer than you think.

Only thing they have from me is my address. They don't have my last name, nor my full first name. I made sure the address was correct, so I could qualify for GAP and the Home Beta, and I got into both.

you are prompted to provide your fullname during registration. did you not enter this..? i assume entering a false name could screw with you when you are trying to pay for content...

Just think... some day when you're in court for carjacking some poor fool's ride, and you tell the judge "i don't know what came over me - I'm not normally like that" - the judge will pull up records of your Grand Theft Auto "achievements" from the PS network and calmly state that "anyone with a consistent 4 star wanted level knows exactly what consequences follow such actions and is a public menace" and sentence you to 10 years of hard labour and no internet connection. You can tell your new boyfriend in jail not to give out personal information if he ever gets out, in the hopes that this information gift will spare your tender innocence.

Well if your going to be spending money than it is pretty obvious why they want that information. If you won't be spending money, just lie about all your info.

So far no problems. I just abbreviated my name.

I'm going to assume that Sony has a good firewall on our personal information. i hope I'm right.

Sony Online Entertainment takes names and info from millions of people playing online MMORPG games; I think they've got a good track record with valuable personal information.

But I agree with the md47, I felt uncomfortable entering in my info over my video game system.

But I agree with the md47, I felt uncomfortable entering in my info over my video game system.and the fact it took 15 minutes to enter all that garbage before I could use my new system! i wasn't expecting that

Well address doesn't bother me. I am listed in the phone book and my address comes up when I google myself. Anyone that wants to find me can do so pretty easily. I refuse to put credit card info in though. Until they have prepaid cards made available to me, I simply won't buy anything off of the PSN.
