and i'd love to know how you "heard" online lag sucks when the game is not even out yet. for that matter i'd love to know how you've formed so definitive an opinion on a game that you have not played. the reviews i've read have been pretty great for this year's madden( at least on the 360).

sure a few people have it, but what they're seeing online now is hardly a representation of what the online gameplay will be like upon launch. as a seasoned veteran of ea's sports games, i can tell you with authority that yes, the online gameplay isn't great for the first week or so. after that things get straightend out and it plays wonderfully.

i will at least give you credit for not referencing that urban myth known as the "2k" series of football games in your little rant

Got tired of Madden games a long time ago.

I might buy it for the 360....certainly not the PS3 though. 30 fps and runs choppier, and lacks achievements.

This is no different than it has ever been.
There were SNES Madden versions subpar to Genesis
Xbox Madden versions subpar to the PS2
And now a Ps3 version subpar to the 360
This is also the reason I've always owned multiple consoles.

As far as online lag
Ncaa Football 08 360 online has had zero lag for me and early reviews of Madden 08 360 have been reporting the same. Not sure how well the online play is on the PS3.

I got tired of madden so long ago I'm unsure of what year. But I'm thinking the players had leather helmets.

As far as EA goes, my opinion is it's profits first, comsumers and products last, as far as their priorities.

I don't blame anyone for not buying Madden, especially on the ps3. EA is notoriously lazy IMO and although I love football, I myself cannot support the fact that they come out with an inferior product on one of the systems. Xbox claims that it is because of the difficulty of the ps3 for the reasoning between the differences, but I chalk it up to Laziness. They have done very little to upgrade the game for years and now that they have to make it for two "next gen" consoles, that is more than they can handle. Screw EA.

But we don't have any other alternatives. Most people I know only buy 2 to 4 games a year; Madden, NBA 2k or Live, Grand Theft, and maybe a Need for Speed. Madden is the elite in fun. I am highly pissed that Madden is not up to speed with the 360. I'm already tired of NCAA 08. I'm glad I didn't buy it. I am getting a 360 just for Madden, Halo, PGR4. I love Sony and the PS3 but its developers are killing it. I would have sold it months ago if it wasn't a top notch DVD/Blu-Ray player.

ea will not get my money. They ruined nba live in a matter of years. Madden is a good game, however it is just recycled year after year. Oh, on a side note..all pro was not that great.

My 3 gripes in that regard are giving EA the exclusives for games, Direct TV the NFL ticket, and now shuffling NBC to the sunday night prime time games, allowing only NBC to show NFL highlights in the 7pm to 8pm hour and thus destroying one of the greatest highlight shows I've seen; NFL Primetime on ESPN.

WAYYY OFF TOPIC:

PrimeTime is now at 6pm on Monday nights with Lazy Eyed Stu, Ditka and Jaws.
Monday Night Countdown follows with Berman, TJ, Mort and Steve Young.
Sunday Countdown is still there, with all the same dudes minus Mike Irvin.
Which is disappointing because I was always holding out for Irvin and Steve Young to get into a fight on air.

I'll rent Madden but I can't see me buying it unless they made some big changes.

I was on the fence about Madden, but voted that I'll be buying it in this poll. There have been too many improvements that have been made this year for me to pass up on. I've started to stop boycotting developers for what has been done in the past. If I like a game, I'm going to buy it. Sure, the fact that it runs at 30fps sucks, but so does everything else on the PS3 right now as well and I haven't had too many complaints. I'm sure it's just as frustrating for EA (this is in a perfect world) that they couldn't get to run at 60fps on the PS3, too, but they aren't the only ones who've experienced that hurdle.

I watched the review at Gametrailers last night and the game looks good, sounds good (except for the lame radio guy) and looks to be a lot of fun. I bought APF 2K8 this year to see if it would satisfy my football needs, but the game modes just aren't there to keep you coming back to it. It's a fantastic game, but the depth is lacking to keep you coming back for more and more.

I'll give the PSP version of Madden a try for once since I just picked up NCAA08 on the PS3.

I won't buy another Madden NFL until EA makes it as good as or better than the 360 version or the Raiders stop sucking, whichever comes first. 2010 maybe?

I'll rent it if I need a football game fix. They come with one every year. Sports games are the biggest racket in gaming history.

I'm buying 2 copies like every year. (360 this year because of the 60 fps thing) We play online all the time. No lag normally. None last night. If you play online, you get madden every year. It is a no brainer. Not cause I like ea, but because I like to play. This years looks to be better. Can't wait for tomorrow. For those who are football nuts, madden is a must. Some people are not nfl fans and will never like the game. Play something else. It is a fun game that is hard to learn. It has a steep learning curve. Name another game that is as complicated?

I'll rent it. If the 30fps thing doesn't drive me nuts..I'll find a deal on it somewhere. I haven't bought a football game in awhile and the reviews on this version are better than the past few years.

I'll more than likely pick up Madden '07 for $10-12 (360) in the coming weeks.. I'm not a big enough football fan to buy it every year when it first comes out. I'll probably play this 'til 2010, and see what's out by then...

I dont understand mosts logic on 30-60fps. Was madden 07 no 30fps on both the 360 and PS3? But it still sold well and nobody complained about it being 30 or 60fps, most of the complaints were from non existing features that existed before on last gen consoles. Now out the blue sky people are freaking out over these FPS's as if they actually care about that more than they do gameplay.

I for one care for gameplay, I like to see my drives or my opponents drives get stalled or killed off by real life penalties. Like illegal formation, or holding on both sides, double penalties, Offensive PI and face masking. I would rather have 30 (even though it never botherd me what it was as long as it wasnt at a crawl)with all the bells and whistles than to have 60 and hear EA say we will include it next year.

I would love to work for EA cuz everyone will be pleased that the cost of the game will go down and all you have to do everyother yr is d/l the rosters. Screw new features what about the features of old that still arent in the game again. But I won my copy at my local EB tourny, but regardless I would have still bought it.

I love football, but like I said earlier, I refuse to support anything that ea touches. Played the real thing and Madden all my life. Watch the NFL ticket every week. Season Tickets to see my beloved Bengals. But no Madden because ea isn't smart enough to understand the complicated ps3 hardware that has been out for damn near a year now. What have they been doing?

Based on the IGN review, Madden is close to being a great game on the 360, but the poor frame rate relegates the game to mediocre status on the PS3.

Supposedly, the frame rate is not a stable 30 fps and suffers from severe stuttering. Although I was expecting such an outcome, I am still extremely disappointed.

from what i've read, this is supposed to the first reasonably upgraded madden game since the early 2000s. why not buy this one? the character models and animations are visibly much improved. i mean, they look like they've caught all the way up with nfl 2k3. then again i didn't bother to buy it last year or the year before so i may be a bit more forgiving.

The reviews are out....VERDICT: MADDEN 08 SUCKS ON PS3. Get the X360 version if you're lucky enough to own both consoles.

WOW. That's some news for me. That's the best post highlight show. 1080i on NBC does look smooth on my set, but nothing compares to ESPN HD. It's the best HD channel period.
