View Full Version : Cane (CBS)
lacombo 08-13-07, 04:49 AM Almost a month away (Tues. Sept 25th) from the premiere but after watching the pilot, I'm looking forward to this show.
Good cast so far and an interesting story. Hope it makes it through and without interruptions.
celticpride 08-13-07, 11:32 AM okay where did you see te pilot? as much as i like jimmy smits i think this will be a flop.
Scott G 08-13-07, 03:53 PM I saw it. Not good, don't bother. :(
The best new CBS show is The Big Bang Theory. I saw that pilot and it is very, very funny. It is from Chuck Lorre of Two and Half Men fame, and he has another winner in The Big Bang Theory. :)
lacombo 08-14-07, 02:00 AM it's the internet, everything is available.
too bad ya didnt like it scott...
KeithAR2002 08-14-07, 02:07 AM I think Cane is the best new show coming to CBS this fall, but I think it will fail, too. I think it'll last a full season, though... unlike the rest of them. I predict Kid Nation will fail first, wih Viva Laughlin and Moonlight not too far behind.
lacombo 09-12-07, 04:09 AM It's on Tues nights with not much comp. Boston Legal and SVU, maybe Nip/Tuck in Oct. Hopefully they dont change days.
josephmckinney 09-12-07, 05:31 PM My wife and I are looking forward to this show. Great potential, hopefully we won't be disappointed.
Cane wasn't that great but without any competition on Tuesday night, this show will survive the season.

I liked it a fair amount. I think the pilot would have been better if it was 90 min long though. I loved the cast and it's certainly nice do have something other then a new crime drama.

I agree, I loved the pilot and it seemed like the writers/producer pushed a lot into a 1hr episode. I think it will make it, high grade writing/acting should make it a hit, there are not really any family dramas on tv right now and I think this may feel that gap.....
yeti95128 09-26-07, 04:31 PM I liked the show. Hopefully CBS will give this show a chance unlike the crap they pulled with Smith last year.
lacombo 09-26-07, 05:01 PM I like it even more now with The Unit and this as a 1-2 punch. was good to see it in HD finally. glad it's not as color drunk as CSI.
Should get some good music like NY Undercover had with an Interscope exec on the production crew.
I'm not sure how I feel about it--mixed emotions.
OrleansDawg 09-28-07, 06:39 PM Worst show I have seen this fall
Just...really bad
rolltide1017 09-28-07, 07:12 PM I think this show has potential, I'm going to stick with it a few more weeks to give it a chance.
archiguy 09-28-07, 07:26 PM 'Cane' has the most lush, gorgeous cinematography this side of LOST. And Jimmy Smits is brilliant in whatever he does. The still gorgeous Rita Moreno, the always reliable Hector Alonzo, and females who look like they should be dating their teenage sons, not mothering them. What's not to like? Well, the fact that there's nothing original here, and I'm not interested in reliving 'Falcon Crest' with sugarcane subbing for wine. There's nothing compelling me to add it to an already over-brimming schedule. And that's kind of a relief, to tell you the truth.
MeowMeow 09-28-07, 08:22 PM I gave up after about 25 minutes. This is just an edgier version of Days of Our Lives. Two families, people who feel wronged, etc. Horny young people. Hmmm... I know there was a play, but I can't remember the name... jeepers. Written by a guy name Bill Shake-something-er-other.
Sorry, but if Cane dies I will be more than eager waiting to see Jericho take its place.
Oliver Deplace 09-28-07, 10:37 PM BTW, to those who believe "Cane" has no competition need only look to Fox in the same time slot. "House: MD" is already a proven success. And there's that dancing show with the hot women.
archiguy: "the always reliable Hector Elizondo".
I read your post and for the life of me couldn't figure out who the heck is Hector Alonzo. I even thought of Fernando Alonzo.

um, yeah. in your alternate time line I guess those shows do compete.
DwtS is 1st slot 8est and House is second slot @ 9est. Cane is 10est with L&O: SVU and Boston Legal.
Oliver Deplace 09-29-07, 12:31 AM Not out here.
Not out here.
Are you in the Sacramento area? That's the only California market I know of that would have House opposite Cane, everywhere else in California Cane airs at 10pm.

Curse that spell checker! :o Longtime character actor; I'll always think of him as the detective after Richard Gere in "American Gigolo".
juancmjr 09-30-07, 01:39 PM I missed the first 10 minutes on Saturday night but the show seemed a little flat to me. I will give it some time because maybe it'll get better as time goes on. Smits' wife on this show is way hot.
vinnie97 10-03-07, 08:36 PM It looks like this show landed in last place in the ratings last week...sayonara soon?
Scott G 10-03-07, 09:35 PM Really sorry to say this for people who like this show, but people in the programming forums are giving it about 3-4 shows. Not only did it drop 2 million viewers this week, but it skews very, very old. It went from an anemic 3.0 in 18-49 year olds to a ridiculous 2.5. this week. That is a 17% drop in one week. That is terrible for a 10:00PM show. Enjoy it now, but I wouldn't get too attached to this show.
lacombo 10-05-07, 12:15 AM say it aint so, please god no!!!
nothing has happened exactly to hook you in yet. so if it goes it goes. another decent serial down the tubes. Companies def need to learn to keep the slow soaps on daytime. Night time needs uptempo as most people are tired from work, so anything slow and not funny will be rejected.
dont know what they'd put but I like the combo of Unit/Cane. nothing else on at 9 that interest me.
2nd ep was decent but they def need to move on to another family or somehow pickup the pace.
lacombo 10-12-07, 03:11 AM well, 4 more shows ordered. doing good enough so far. that makes 11 eps.
juancmjr 10-17-07, 01:10 PM Nothing like a little family squabble and a multi episode murder mystery to spice things up. Still this show is somehow flat to me.
Kipp Jones 10-25-07, 09:31 AM Yesterdays episode was the best yet. I hope it gets picked up for the season. Where do we find the ratings???
juancmjr 10-31-07, 01:29 AM I enjoyed last week's episode as well. The end tension made it more interesting. Miss Aussie rum maker from this last episode was hot.
josephmckinney 10-31-07, 08:41 AM My wife really likes the show but I don't really care for this one. However, I guess I'll continue to watch a few more. Hopefully they'll get better.
juancmjr 12-16-07, 03:42 PM I feel that the show has gotten better. The Samuels/Duque feud storyline is being fleshed out a bit more. The hurricane episode was a bit of a distraction but maybe served to get Frank and Alex closer in their conflict with Samuels. Still, this show may get cancelled but it gets my hopes up for more Hispanic/Latino based programming, in HD of course!
