I recently starting finishing my basement and have started to clean up the wiring from the previous owners. Additionally I've been adding a few Ethernet drops (I'll have an office down there) and some phone jacks. I have all of the wiring routed to a closet area that is under the stairs. Problem is, I plan on finishing that space and can't seem to find a good way to store the wires and make them available if I need to do work.

Currently I have the main coax line (cable) running to the closet and then split to 4 different runs that route to various places in the house. Additionally, I plan on installing a network switch in the space and have 4 Ethernet cables in the all leading to the same area.

In my previous house, I simply cut a whole in the sheet rock and feed the cables through. I'm hoping to do a more professional job this time -- or at least one that looks nicer. Any suggestions?

Hey there.

Not sure if you are looking for something to simply cover up connections or what,,, but here is what I did for service access. I installed a simple access panel in the ceiling of my equipment "service chase" above my rack for future (easy) access. I got mine from a guy on e-bay who sells them all the time. The are metal, come primed and ready to paint. You just cut the drywall out to size and screw them directly to the studs through the drywall ramaining. (or install a couple if need be)

He sells several different sizes, so you can order whatever size suits your needs of fits your particular situation. It's just a simply half turn fastener to open/close them. I think I paid around $25 shipped for it.

Hope that helps?
