hi all,

just need some advice or help in regard to SACD + Dolby Headphone.

first of all, has anybody got experience with such a setup? is it worth it?
the thing is, due to the restriction from Sony's side it is virtually impossible to play SACDs on anything other than a dedicated/multi-format player.

now, my problem is I have neither the space nor the neighbours to setup a surround-sound-system in my room and would like to hear it all over my headphones, but I didn't find an affordable player with DolbyHP integrated.

anybody here who could help me out? I am looking for a "cheap" solution to play my SACDs and encode it with DolbyHP.

regards

Don't think its possible to decode SACD and output to receivers to encode into dolbyHD.

But correct me if I am wrong tho.

SACD is recorded in multi-channel DSD formats. A transport/player can either decode the SACD and DAC it to output 5 channel analog audio (no bass management), or to convert from DSD to multi-channel PCM via HDMI 1.1, or to output multi-channel DSD streams via HDMI 1.2a directly.

You would need a HDMI 1.2a and DSD decoding receiver (a list could be found on SA-CD.net) to decode multi-channel DSD outputs.

btw, headphone, no matter how good yours is, would not be able reproduce the feel.

DSD, but surely accompanied by some copy protection scheme, probably '5C'.
