View Full Version : 58" Panny 1080p Panels: 750 is "Better"..Isn't It?
Deandome 08-13-07, 03:10 PM I'm looking both 58" 1080p pannys. But I'm kinda offuput by the 750's lack of cable-card slot, (the 700 has it). Also, BB has the 750 on sale for LESS than the 700!!
So I'm wondering, is the 750 actually 'better' than the 700" Why? The main diff I see is the 750 has a comb filter. Is the cable-card actually on the way 'out', so it's absence is actually reflecting that?
If both prices were the same (and they almost are)...is there any reason why you would pick the 700 OVER the 750?
The 750 has a cinema reference mode and better video processing. So if the cable card is more important to you than video processing, then go with th 700.
SLCentral 08-13-07, 03:13 PM The 700 does not have CableCard. No new Panny models do, either :(.
Deandome 08-13-07, 03:26 PM Aah...DOH;!
I was confusing "media card" (SD memory) w/cable card.
Oh well, I'm a Dish guy, so I'm really just asking for future-proofing.
Anyhow...the 750 has my interest, s'pecially if I can get it down to $4K or so.

I know the 750 offers the cinema reference mode, among other upgraded features over the 700, but I haven't ready anything about the video processing being any different b/w the two models. Can you please provide a reference or point me in the right direction so I research this a bit? Thanks!

the 700/750 model use the same processor, this was verified by Panasonic and has been noted many times before in the 700/750u owners thread.

But I'm kinda offuput by the 750's lack of cable-card slot, (the 700 has it). You're not losing much w/the absence of a one-way CableCARD slot... wait until next year when PDPs will be equipped with an M-Card slot w/direct digital input support for full two-way signaling of On-Demand, PPV & (if you are a cable TV subscriber) SDV services.
dssturbo1 08-14-07, 09:17 AM opti the current M card is one way for multistream and is cablecard version 1.0, so no ppv or vod.

Check with one of the forum sponsors ... they'll have the 750 at or near your target price.
theroys88 08-14-07, 03:36 PM Saw this set at CC with Pirates 3 running from a BR player. PQ looked fantastic. MRSP was way too high for me but prices will continue to drop and after my wife gets out of Hygiene school I plan on getting a 55-60" 1080p plasma for the family room. Viewing distance is 10-12 feet. I recently bought a Hitachi 42" set for my man hole and still waiting on that set. CC feeds in my area are much better and the set I purchased looked great and held its own against many higher priced models. At BB the Hitachi looked horrible, even after playing with the settings. The Panasonic is a great set and number one on my short list.

Except for pricing, I can see NO reason why anyone would pick the 700 over the 750. If you are going to buy one or the other and the 750 is less its a no brainer.
mkoesel 08-14-07, 06:13 PM The 750 is nice in that it has that third HDMI input on the front. Very worth while for plugging in a games console or HD camera.
