I am running the CD now and do notice it is changing colors and working. My questions are:

1. How long should I do this for.
2. What is this actually doing? Is this preventing future burn in?
3. What should the settings be on? I turned the brightness down to 30 and the gamma to -2. Anything else I should do before I go to sleep and leave it on?

Thanks for the help guys.

You can turn UP the contrast and brightness if you want to burn in the display faster. Just make sure you turn them down again when watching regular TV.

The break-in DVD doesn't really do anything to improve the display or reduce chances of burn-in. What it does is provide safe content that you can leave on for hours at a time to get the TV past the 200 hour mark faster, when the TV is naturally less susceptible to burn-in.

You certainly shoudn't avoid watching TV during the break-in time. Just avoid watching pillar boxed content at all (i.e. stretch all 4:3 content) and limit viewing of letterboxed content, keep the contrast and brightness turned down a bit, and enjoy your TV.

I'd also recommend avoiding logos (i.e. Food Network) and tickers (i.e. CSPAN) for the first 200 hours.
