hello all,

i apologize for such a dumb question, but can someone tell me if the pioneer 1540HD is an 1080P plasma? I was told it is, but for some reason, i cant tell the difference between the 1540hd and my 3 year old 1080i pioneer.

All pioneer list on their site is that it can accept a 1080p @24hz input. not sure what that means.

thanks in advance.

It's not 1080P. It's resolution is 1365x768. A true 1080P panel has a res of 1920x1080. Pio used to use 1280x768 for the 50", but went to 1365x768 with the 5070. Even the new Kuro panels are 768p in the 50" size. The brand new 60" (both Elite and regular) are true 1080P. The reference on the web page to 1080P/24 is just letting you know that the panel will accept 1080P at 24 frames/second as an input; then scale it to the panels native resolution. The older panels (like my 5060) would only accept 480P, 720P, and 1080i; no 1080P. They still have to de-interlace 1080i and scale to the panels res in the sets electronics, in order to display these inputs.
