6Ft 3-RCA Component Video Cable (RG-59/u) (http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=102&cp_id=10235&cs_id=1023502&p_id=960&style=&seq=1&format=3#specification) $4.21

PREMIUM 6FT 3-RCA Component Video RG-6 18AWG 75Ohm CL2 Rated Cable (http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=102&cp_id=10235&cs_id=1023502&p_id=2769&style=&seq=1&format=3#specification) $12.54

Is there a significant difference? It's thicker, but one thing that really caught my eye is that the premium one specifies it has copper braid shielding while the non-premium one does not specify what it uses (aluminum?).

Also, my current setup is DVD player to receiver to TV, so I'll need two sets of component cable right?

For your purposes, irrelevent although one may look nicer than the other. CL-2 means it's rated for in-wall which means things like fire retardency, perhaps certain abrasion resistance. The latter also has a slightly thicker center conductor. However, for a 3 foot length, so what? You could also go to wally world or target and buy this.

Not much difference. RG-59 is more than enough and RG-6 won't get you any benefit unless you have interference problems, which is unlikely especially at short length of 12 FT.

Do you have to send your video signals to your receiver? I suggest just going DVD to TV if you can.

Component video doesn't use a lot of bandwidth so RG-59 will be fine. If you were running RGBHV or raw Sat signals over longer distances then the RG-6 would provide better signal integrity for the given bandwidth.

Having said that, the 'premium' cable appears to have better connectors / terminations so you might consider the extra $8 worthwhile.

I guess I will be going with the "premium" one since it appears with the non-premium one everyone was complaining of loose connections (based on customer reviews on their site). I think wally world/target cables would cost this much (the premium price) and be alot worse than monoprice's cable. Now where's that free shipping promo...
