I've decided on what I want to get for my living room TV/HT. I am going to get the following componenets, but I want to make sure that they are all compatible (in the sense that they would compliment each other), and that I'm not missing anything. Here they are:

Panasonic TH-58PZ750U 58" 1080p Plasma HDTV
Onkyo 805 7.1 receiver (will only run 5.1 for the time being)
Infinity Beta 50 front speakers (2)
Infinity Beta C360 center channel speaker (1)
Infinity Beta ES250 surround speakers (2)
SVS 20-39PC-Plus subwoofer (1)
X-Box 360 (HDMI)
Playstation 3 (for Blu-Ray)

Am I missing anything, and does this system sound decent? Thank you for any and all suggestions!

Hey,

I think it looks great. I have the 58" Panasonic, the PS3 and the SVS 20-39PC and love all three!

I have never owned the Infinity Speakers so I can't comment on them maybe post on the Speaker forum to make sure they are matched.

Good Luck.

Well you've certainly chosen nicely for the TV! The sub is a high quality product, too - what have you done to ensure it will be enough for your room? Does that receiver had pre-outs for all of the channels? You may wind up wanting to experiment with separate amps down the road, as many of us do, it'd be smart to plan for that likely scenario.

Thank you both for the replies! Yes, the Onkyo 805 has preouts, which is a good thing, as the 605 doesn't. I haven't done anything to ensure it is enough for my particular room, but my father has the same subwoofer in a similar room that is more than enough for him. Is it a bad idea to assume I would get similar results? What can I do to ensure it will be enough?

Thanks again, guys!

If the room is similar in size and construction, yes, you can probably expect "similar" results.

However, with a sub, the ROOM is the sub enclosure, so they're very finicky. Floor construction and room size (cubic feet) are two of probably the most important issues. If you are on a concrete floor, you'll need more sub than if it were hardwood. Taller room - more sub, etc..

The amount and placing of large pieces of furniture is also an important factor in sub performance, a big fluffy couches and what not will affect the room.

There are entire forums devoted to subs. Many of us (maybe most?) have gone to the trouble to graph the frequency response of our sub(s) in the rooms and adjust things to get a desired frequency response curve (note I did not say the flattest curve, not everyone likes that). A lot of us have dual subs.

My room is 20'x29x8'. I have TWO SVS PB12 + /2 subs, stacked right on top of one another as that yielded the best response in my room. I have a concrete floor that makes smaller subs cry.

Your choice in subs is probably fine if you have a similar room in which to compare. Even better would be to take the dimensional measurements of your room, call the guys at SVS and ask for their opinion. They're not bashful and very helpful.
