I can't believe there isn't a thread, does anyone else besides me watch this show?

It's funny - ESPN has had a couple of winners in their attempt at scripted dramatic programming, but they cancelled both for reasons still unclear - although 'Players' was probably axed because they caved into the NFL's unreasonable demands to pull the show. Pretty sorry lack of spine, there.

the acting is so bad in this and the editing is god awful. They also cut to commercials in the middle of scenes. It is a trainwreck of a series.

damn NFL ruining a great thing

Right, it was 'Playmakers'. Good, entertaining show with strong ratings; ESPN should be ashamed of pulling it. The NFL needs them just as much as they need the NFL and should have stayed out of it.

I've been DVRing and watching The Bronx is Burning. It's not the best thing ever made, but I find it entertaining enough to keep watching. I'm definitely not a Yankees fan, but I remember the principals involved and it's kind of interesting to see a dramatization of those events of 1977.

Playmakers was a very good show. I was hoping that once it was canceled HBO or Showtime would pick it up, maybe even FX.

True, it's not the greatest, but I also remember those days, and I happen to be a big John Turturro fan.

ESPN produced the show... so there wasn't anywhere for it to go.

Not a Yankees fan at all but slowly I am coming around to it.

I love that the last few minutes are real interviews. I like that.

Everytime I see an eposide I slowly get more into it.

I think the cheesy in/out of real TV/fake TV is so-so but I let that go

Not a bad story, especially for any true baseball fan. I should also say that I am absolutely not a Yankees fan.

I actually think Oliver Platt does a pretty spot on impression of Steinbrenner.
