This may be old news, but I just loved this. A very even-handed look at the whole history of the team (Jackie Robinson, World Series defeats and the single victory) and what went wrong and caused the move to LA.

As a Minnesota sports fan, I can see the birth of the angst we feel here: coming up short year after year, inferiority complex to the bigger markets, they're all against us, owners' threats to move, losing a team we didn't deserve to lose, etc.

If the Dodgers hasn't convinced the Giants to go with them to the West Coast, we'd have likely had the Giants here in the Twin Cities. Think of it --- Willie Mays...Of course, we've done OK with the Twins. ;)

Highly recommended.

Did it go back to when they were called the Superbas?

Sort of, though didn't mention the many early names the Brooklyn team had. It only dealt briefly with the early history of the team, and the borough. The concentration of the program was on the 1947-1957 Dodgers.

If memory serves they went back as far as identifying them as the Trolley Dodgers then the name got shortened.

My cousin and I grew up in Brooklyn in the 1950's and we loved the show. It brought back a lot of memories and, for the first time, told the real story of why the "Bums" left for LA and who the real culprit was (Robert Moses). Another interesting note: Cal Abrams was our second cousin and, of course, always had to live with the memory of being thrown out by Ritchie Ashburn in the 1950 playoff game. The show had the actual footage of Cal being waved around by third base coach Milt Stock and being out by a mile at the plate. We had never seen that before. Milt Stock was fired by the Dodgers three days later and never coached in the Bigs again. When Cal died several years ago, he was buried in his Dodgers uniform even though he played for several teams after that.

Sounds like a good program, but what a shame that Wilbert Robinson, Charlie Ebbets and other early Brooklyn bb luminaries weren't mentioned. Yes, they had a lousy team just after the turn of the century, but it would have been nice if the producers had included early history as well.

The Mets' new stadium has, as part of its outer facade, a replica of the exterior of Ebbets Field. It is very cool looking and a wonderful tribute, along with the interior Jaclie Robinson Rotunda.

Robert Moses you dog ugly piece of baboon dung!

You scarred me for life when my Dodgers split for the left coast. I dare you step out of your stank ass coffin...I would slap the taste so far out of your bony dome... I'd love to stick the real Moses' staff so far up your sphincter, you'd be spitting splinters for eternity!

How you like me now Mosie?

I love baseball and this was one of the best sports documentaries I have ever seen.
