Just found out that AT&T offers digital tv service in my area. Price wise, it's very similar to Comcast. But it does have much larger HD programming; which is very important for me. How is AT&T's HD programs' picture quality? Any known issues with AT&T offering? THanks.

Probably better asking someone in a local forum. If you are in the Bay area (as I suspect), check out the SF Comcast Thread. Just heard about a guy who knew someone that switched to AT&T...and back to Comcast a few weeks later because AT&T was so bad.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I was under the impression that "AT & T Digital TV" is actually just Dish Network offered thru AT&T (Dish bill gets lumped into AT&T bill).

At least that appears to be the case in my neck of the woods.

That's what I was thinking, but I wasn't sure enough to respond.

Maybe the OP was referring to U-Verse?

At least that appears to be the case in my neck of the woods.I believe the version including DISH is U-Verse. A dish is not required for Lightspeed; (after special installation) TV and internet service comes through the phone-line.

U-Verse is part of lightspeed. I believe the OP was referring to what others here call Lightspeed, the AT&T "Fiber to the node" service.

AT&T still offers Dish service but Uverse is their FTTN service. Uverse's HD service is weak as you can only get one HD channel at a time in your house. So forget it if you have more then one HDTV or like to use a HD DVR. Plenty of discussion about Uverse can be found here.

Read the "Project Lightspeed" thread.

The HD quality is awful.

I had it installed for less than 48 hours.
