Is this the season they will finally go HD? Anyone know? With all the HD games, they certainly have enough for the high lights.

A little tid bit, this show doesn't use TV footage, they use NFL Films footage, which is filmed on 16mm. Still good enough for an HD transfer.

I'm more excided about finally getting to see Game of the week in HD on NFL Network.

Actually NFL films is now sending out HD copies of their games. Pay close attention to ESPN lately and you'll see HD NFL films footage. They do not however use broadcast game footage, and they may not be willing to incur the extra costs to produce this show in HD as that involves much more than using HD footage. It means new graphics, new animations, possibly a new set that's HD friendly, possibly new facilities, new post production process and pipeline, etc and all these things (especially in New York) can be quite pricey.

Don't be so sure. 'Hard Knocks' was revived this year and it's in HD for the first time. It's an NFL Films production, which means we finally get to see some of their wonderful super slo-mo footage telecined into HD. Nice!

I’m not sure where Costas Now, Real Sports, Bill Maher, and Inside the NFL originate, but I would think they could all be relocated to one studio, which would simplify the process while saving tons of money and providing four interesting programs in HD. Travel shouldn’t be a problem because these people do it all the time.

Costas Now, Real Sports, and Inside the NFL originate from NYC. Real Time w/ Bill Maher is based in Los Angeles. I believe that the NY shows are done in an actual HBO studio, where as Real Time "sublets" a studio out west.

Consolidating all the HBO "news" shows would make it easier/cheaper in terms of production costs.

But getting Maher to move to NYC for 3-5 months out of the year.....3000 miles away from his beloved Playboy Mansion and his reliable pot dealers? Very unlikely.

A bit OT, but Hard Knocks looks great in HD and I like the show. After last weeks episode, I am routing for the two corners to make the team. I think their names are Patterson and Breckinridge.

HAHA! There's also bound to be at least a couple of Playboy Mansion-level hotties in the Big Apple to assist Maher in passing the time.

To confirm, REAL TIME originates from Studio 33 ("The Bob Barker Studio") at CBS Television City in Los Angeles. Would guess that CBS has some HD equipment lying around there.

Whether they allow HBO to use it is another issue (and likely cost, which is why REAL TIME will surely be SD when it pops back on soon).

The other thing that doesn’t bode well for any of the shows I mentioned going HD are their repeatability factor on the other HBO channels that aren’t HD. Until HBO goes HD across the board I wouldn’t look for any of them to be in HD.
