View Full Version : NHL Center Ice in HD this season? .... YES.
GameHD was supposed to show the Detroit/LA game in HD tonight. It is the one HD channel for CI through cable presented by IN Demand. Sucks, cause it was on the INDemand schedule, but of course they have a disclaimer that the schedule is subject to change and blackouts. I don't have any blackout issues here in Oregon unless the game is only shown in the two teams home cities.
Darn!

On Comcast here, there's supposed to have been almost a game a night (sometimes two) on the shared Extra Innings/Center Ice HD channel. I can see the games in the guide. But the geniuses still have the channel tagged as Extra Innings, so they can't authorize it for me.
Cablevision claims that they did not get a HD channel with their contract. Does anyone know if it costs more for providers to get this channel? CV claims the ability for so many HD channels, yet they don't take what they can easily get.
DirecTV showed Friday and Saturday night's BOS at LA and BOS at SJ games from NESN on channel 94 or 95, I forget which. It looks like the MPEG4 -1 channels will start having stuff this week from what I saw on the guide.

Wherever "here" is.
Memphis. That enough for you?
Does anyone know if Cox New England plans to add a dedicated HD channel for Center Ice?
Was anyone in the Bay Area with CI able to watch the NESN HD broadcast on 94/95 that was referenced above of the Bruin/Sharks game? Or was it blacked out?

sciman111 10-15-07, 11:45 PM DirecTv NHL Center Ice 10/15/07 channel 764 list Red Wings at Ducks and the sub channel lists Red Wings at Ducks with HD logo. However the main channel is SD scaled while the sub channel is SD 4:3. Any one else getting NHL CI HD on sub channels?
The Wings/Ducks game was not broadcast in HD by anyone according to nhl.com, not sure why D* also put it on a HD subchannel.
Because it was upconverted SD, which looked a lot better.
DirecTV is doing something very strange for them tonight on center Ice. The Wild/Kings game is being shown on three channels, the home and away feeds in SD, and also in HD (upconverted SD) on FSNWHD.

Fingers crossed this is the start of a new attitude at D* with regards to NHLCI. All of the feeds were opened in the RSN sports channel section as well as carrying both feeds in the NHLCI section.
sciman111 10-17-07, 08:34 PM Channel 765-1 which is the NHLCI sub channel for the Devils @ Penguins is broadcasting in full HD. The audio was a little out of sync during the intermission report but hell I'll take it. I am getting some cracks and pops too but that might be my crappy receiver. After watching those crappy SD feeds over the last 8 years this is awesome :D. Looks like there are several more games tonight. My dream of NHLCI in HD are finally coming to fruition.
teevman 10-17-07, 10:20 PM game was on ch 94 as well, now ducks and preds, tomorrow there are two games as well on 94.
Now if we can only get CBC-HD on both Directv and Dish, INdemand is showing Montreal/Pittsburgh using CBC-HD this month, IF CABLE CAN GET IT SATELLITE CAN RIGHT????????? UGH!!!!!!!!!
DeanP66 10-17-07, 11:46 PM I watched the Devils/Penguins game on both 94 and 628-1. 94 was an mpeg2 feed that they just grabbed, while the 628-1 feed was the new mpeg4 feed that was added today.
I've got to say that the new mpeg4 feed was awful. It had bad lip sync issues and the picture was constantly stuttering, like it was skipping frames or something.
I ended up just watching the 94 feed which was very clean, aside from a few popping sounds occasionally. I hope they fix the problem with the stuttering soon.
sciman111 10-18-07, 12:09 AM I am glad to see that I am not the only one who heard the pops and audio sync issues.
hunter65 01-04-08, 08:50 PM Are us CI subscribers getting lots of hd hockey on these new mpeg 4 rsn's? I'm interested in seeing the NY Rangers on MSG in HD. Is that happening?

Yes (on DirecTV).
I am hoping Directv will give me CI for free the rest of the season, I can show them I have already paid $149 thru Dishnetwork I wanna dump those losers. Dish is way behind with RSNs in HD.
mp3trojan 01-05-08, 08:27 AM Sill no HD feed from the CBC for Hockey Night In Canada on D*. I was also disappointed The NHL Network was not giving us the HD feed from TSN in their coverage of the 2008 IIHF World Junior Championships. SD or HD, the drumming Team USA got yesterday was hard to watch.
NHL Network can get TSN-HD for NHL games but we can't get them in CI along with other Canadian HD feeds, makes no sense at all.
hunter65 01-05-08, 09:23 PM These Canadian networks must not be wiling to give it up yet. Get my new dish and HR21-700 next week. Gotta love HD hockey.
hunter65 01-05-08, 09:24 PM Yes (on DirecTV).
thanks, i should have specified that.
Question about NHL CI on Dish Network - Does anyone know why some games that are being broadcast in HD on RSN's that Dish carries the HD feed for DON'T show up in HD on the CI channels? I got CI so i could watch my Red Wings and there have been several broadcasts of road games that FSN Detroit has said were available in HD, however there was no HD feed on the CI channel. I was wondering if subscribers who get FSN Detroit as their home RSN get the HD feed, but it wasn't being made available to CI subscribers. I don't understand why they would not make the feed available to CI because they're already using the transponder space to broadcast the HD feed. It's not like they have to use twice the bandwidth, the channel just gets mapped to multiple locations. Dish has gotten real good lately at pissing off HD subscribers...i guess this is just another reason why I should switch back to Direct.
grunzster 01-07-08, 09:03 AM Where were they playing?
Are you sure the games were in HD?
Rangers just had a 3 game (Canadian) road trip and all the games were in SD. I think it least 2 of the games were even on MSG HD, and I don't have CI. MSG is a local chanel for me.
I was watching the SD feed on CI and Ken Daniels said it was available in high def on the telecast. I know most teams only do home HD production, so i was surprised as well. I even skipped back to make sure he actually said what i thought i heard and there was a graphic to boot, so i checked my guide again and the HD CI channel for the game had nothing. I don't recall specifically which game it was, but it was in the last week or two.
