Hi everyone, long time observer, first time posting. I am looking to buy my first sub to add to my HT system. I am trying to pick between the Mirage Omni S10 or the Klipsch RW 10d. They are in the price and size range that I was looking for. I also might consider the Velodyne DPS-10. Any suggestions? I could get a really good deal on the Mirage S10, but the lack of reviews has held me back. Any input will be appreciated....Thanx

What's your room size and price range?

My brother in law has a Klipsch, I am not sure of the model but my Mirage definitely sounds better.... I had a Mirage Omni S-8 and upgraged to the S-10. Have had it for about just over a year and a half. My room is approx 22X16....plenty bass for my space. Pretty quick and sounds good with music, although I use it mainly for HT. ( I listen to mostly 2 channel on some Energy RC-50's ) Great for the money, especially if you can get a deal on it.

I've owned a Mirage S12 that I was extremely happy with.

After much research, and reading what few reviews I could find, I pulled the trigger on the Mirage Omni s-10. Should be getting it tomorrow, and I will definately be hooking it up either late late tomorrow night, or saturday. Expect me to post my feelings on it saturday, But I am very excited to be getting it. I was also torn between the mirage, and klipsh. The mirage can hit lower, I heard it puts out really clean bass, so I will put it to the test. I've been able to find it cheap on ebay (1/2 pricish), but thats very hit or miss. just a thaught.

Congrats. I am interested to hear what you think. I got mine on Audiogone, not quite half price....but still pretty good. I am so happy with my Energy stuff I decided to go with the Mirage as well...sister company. I really like it, I also bought a subdude from sweetwater, sits perfectly on.

Thanks for the reply's. The room is approx 16X13. I have also heard good things on the Mirage S10 (hits low freq with little distortion). I think I'm going to pull the trigger on this sub today.

I'm a package tracking fool, Been hounding the poor ups website for an update, it's out fo delivery, so should get to my fathers sometime this morning, and I'll run down to albany and snag it. I have work tonight, So I doubt I'll have time to play with it tonight, but tomorrow I took off, so I will have some time to mess around. My room is 15 long, by 12 wide. It has an opening into the kitchen/dining room that is about 3.2 feet wide, hopefully that dosnt cause any problems. I'm starting out by putting the sub in the back of the room, under an end table. Pictures to come.

Don't think it will. In addition to my room size, 22X16, it is a family room open to the kitchen, and still sounds plenty good.

Aother happy Mirage S10 owner.

Go for it, FernMD, especially if you can get it at a discount.

just got the sub home, only had enough time to take it out of the box, and check it for damage. Man, it looks awesome, can't wait to get it set up! will have some pictures tomorrow.

Went to Magnolia in BB and got to hear the Mirage S8, and I was impressed by how clean it sounded. I can only imagine the S10 would sound better.

I also got to hear the Definitive ProSub 1000, and was very impressed as well. It had a very clean and tight sound. It's also rated at 300W RMS & 18-150HZ. Any comments? Haven't heard too much about Definitive.

I've been playing with all the settings. Got the cross over set at 60 Hz, and finally did the YPAO for my yamaha reciever (was waiting for the sub). Man, does it sound good. This sub has awesome clarity, hits low, and is very responsive. So far its gone through the ice age intro (crackling ice), to blue man group dts cd, and it rocks. I'm keeping the volume low (like 45%ish) for the first 20 hours. I don't know how much braking in is real, or myth, but to be on the safe side.

Seems my sub starting sounding even better after about 20 hrs or so. Glad you like it. If you are using it on wood floors ( I have tile floors ) or even carpeting you may want to check out the subdude from sweetwater, pretty cheap contraption that really does what it says. The sub sits perfectly on it. I found it sounded tighter, decreased some if not most of the annoying rattles ( my windows ) were doing.

I have two S-12's, and I know that when I first got them they sounded "low" in volume to me, at least compared to my expectations. After about a week, I had to recalibrate, as they seemed to get louder as the week progressed. I don't know if it was the sub breaking in or me breaking in, but something changed over the week. This happened with both my Mirage S-12 subs, purchased separately with about 3 months in between.

I am a big fan of both- I have a Klipsch reference speaker set-up and I am still using a Mirage BPS-400. It has worked flawlessly for 10 years now. Not sure how the new line of mirage subs compares-but I like mine alot.
