I've got a ps3 hooked by optical out to a dts supporting receiver. The PS3 will recover the track information but only hissing comes forth. It is connectd to an okyo 602 via optical. I've pored over the settings. What am I missing?
The dts discs in question are Police: the singles and StingBrand new day.
I have also moved the optical connection to a spherex amp/sub which ostensibly supports dts as well. The DTS light which is suppsed to indicate it is receiving dts does not come on, so I suspect the ps3 ust ain't decoding. This driving me insane. please help?

I don't own a PS3, but have seen reports that it doesn't support dts cd's. See if the PS3 has an option to set the optical out to bitstream, 44khz........

Many reports that the PS3 will play DTS cd's if you change the option to 44.1k I think the default is 48k. Give it a shot.

Darned Sony & their crap PS models, you mean!
DTS have to set the fake PCM flag, or the DTS-CD will not actually work.

You got it wrong my friend. It's DTS that is the issue. DTS does NOT conform to the Redbook Standard. Technically they shouldnt even be allowed to be called CD's Sony is not the only Manfu, who has equipment that doesnt play well with DTS. Its a DTS thing...

I could not get my DTS eagles hell freezes over CD to work via HDMI, I had to connect it with optical, even after changing it from 48k to 44.1/88.2/176.4.

Old thread, but for those who still need to know...

Okay, you're almost there, now go into "Sound Settings" and uncheck the HDMI "manual" settings for 88.2 and 176.4 2-channel (DTS CD doesn't like those being on and won't work with them). Now you can play DTS-CDs...

Interesting - this cannot be down to the DTS-CD not liking them though, as I have (admittedly in Stereo only) created many 24/88.2 resolution DTS-CD discs and can play them in my old Denon with no trouble at all.
