I've been using a CC30R Colour Correcting Filter from Lee Filters to improve my Calibrations with my LCD PJ . The Filter is the Polyester type .

I recently took it down to inspect it , as skin tones were starting to look "off" , and noticed that it is developing a "burn" spot which is bleaching out the colour . I was not expecting this .

Has anyone else seen this either with the Polyester type or the Resin filters ? I'm hoping that the Resin ones are more durable and as the Polyester one was just a test to start out with , I'm more than happy to upgrade to the Resin one . That is if no one has seen the bleaching problem .

Thanks in advance ,

I'm surprised , is no one else using CC filters ? Oh well .

I got an answer back from Lee Filters . The dyes in the Polyester Film are sensitive to bleaching from the intense light from the PJ . They were meant as input filters for cameras and not light sources .

There is another option , Lamp Source based Filters . This company , Rosco , makes and sells a huge variety and describes specifically how they hold up better in extreme conditions such as Arc Lamps...

Prices are good too . 20" x 24" sheets for less than $8.00 ! Simply cut a piece to fit .

I never had a problem yet with Hoya HMC filters. They already have coatings on them. They are camera filters though not your theater spot filters.

These look like gels used in theater (stage) productions. I'd be curious how their optics hold up.
