I apologize for the cross post. I put a similar thread in the Xbox area (because I was worried about the RF controllers) but that probably wasn't the best area for this discussion.

I've got a pioneer vsx-1015 receiver, an xbox 360, and a motorola HD/DVR cable box. Everything is controlled by a Harmony 659 remote. I would like to put them in a cabinet in another room (near the media room).

Can anyone recommend a good IR repeater? Should I even be considering an IR repeater? I saw that the Harmony 890 claims to control devices from 100' away and through walls (I think its RF). Would this be a better way to go?

Thanks for the help.

890 is RF. I don't have it so I can't comment.

I also don't have an IR repeater (yet), but I know by reading build posts, that Some (Bud - Chinadog) have used the buffalo technologies IR repeater. Try Smarthome for info: http://www.smarthome.com/_/ProductResults.aspx?Ntt=buffalo

The Buffalo Electronics IR Hub works great! I paired it with a couple of these to save some money.

Don't forget to get the emmiters as well. Everything needed should come in under $100.

Buffalo is good, the 890 does both IR and RF I believe.

The Xantech products are also very good. We have a complete IR network in our home, receivers in most major rooms. It works great.
