Is there anyone in the Detroit area who owns one and is willing to show off their set up? I'm seriously considering buying one of these subs (based on everyone's high opinion of them on the boards), but I would like to experience them before dropping that much change on them.

i cant really help you with the demo, but personally i would choose the SVS over the HSU, simply because the amp is more powerful and it goes lower.

Have you heard both are you just saying your personal rec'n is based on the numbers?

yes just personal opinion based on numbers, if i had to choose one i'd pick the SVS.

Well I have owned the SVS PB 10NSD and PB 12NSD and now own an HSU VTF3 MK2 (which is virtually identical to the VTF2 MK3 for $552 including shipping) and I can tell you first hand based on ears that I'm happier with the HSU. Better sound with music and just as good with movies. Dual ports gives you the option of playing deeper or louder, but the biggest difference is the detail and quality of sound. Both are very good but I give the slight edge to the HSU.
