There are many rumors, but I think this one might be real. If it includes upgarded chips and processor, it will be great.

Well, I have to say its probably a good thing to eventually come out with if indeed Microsoft is serious about standing with the HD-DVD format, plus it no doubt would be more efficient for them to just do away with the external drive and attach it into a regular Xbox 360. However, I think the monstrous harddrive is of more significance, as it will be a necessity if/when streaming HD really takes off. Streaming HD is the future of high definition movies, not Blu-Ray or HD-DVD. Its just a matter of when.

Stop the presses. A Gamestop employee spotted a stock code. That's concrete.

My question is whether the add-on drive would allow the same functionality to all the existing customers. Damnit, I JUST bought my Elite. Oh, well, such is the way of progress.

As I have always said. The system was so rushed. They still just dont know what/where they wanna go with it.

There is no way the HD-DVD drive will be used for games. With a install base of over 10 million systems all with just DVD drives, why would any game maker make a HD-DVD game. You are just asking to lose money.

they won't won't put games on HDDVD. it wouldn't make business sense. as for having a built-in drive for HDDVD movies, i LIKE having a seperate drive. i tend to play one game at a time, and usually finish it before i move to another one. as a result the game stays in the drive for weeks. for movies, i go from one to the next. having 2 seperate drives means i don't have to always take the game disc in/out all the time.

That would depend entirely on the volume of add-on drives that have been sold. MS knows whether or not there's sufficient demand for a new SKU.

Thats because we are in a stage where the consumer really doesn't know what they want either. At least we get options!

I like the external drive too. God forbid the Bluray group wins the format war, but being external leaves MS and us options. An external Bluray drive (IF they won) would make an easy transition into the other format for all of us.
