ch. 9429 on 61.5 and 129... about 1/2 the dog whisperer shows I DVR are in HD (seems they started showing this in HD around august of 2006).

I get it on E* and watched it once out of curiousity. I don't believe I will make it a point to go back. IMHO it is just more ot the same.

I finally upgraded to the HD DVR after having a standard HD box for years.

I recorded the preview NGHD on D* from early this morning.

All I can say is WOW!!!!!! The best looking HD I've seen. I would have to assume they are showing this channel at full res and not bit starving it, because it was phenominal looking.

The shots of the birthing of the twins was bad enough...but the quads...:eek:

However, staying on topic...sort of....the PQ was good enough to show the eyelashes of the kids in the womb. I haven't seen that fine a detail in a while, except maybe for some Discovery HD and HDNet shows.

If they can keep this PQ up when the bird goes live, it is going to be a very exciting Fall.

I personally believe the HD PQ is going to be very good when the new HD channels go live (Based on MPEG-4 LIL reports). Its the current MPEG-2's that concern me though. Those are the core channels that I would still watch the most if I was to resub to D*.

I think that's what the shock was. The PQ was "surprisingly" good.

From what Ive read they will be migrated to MPEG-4 eventually..

From what Ive been able to gather its not something thats going to happen right away though..

Theres nothing wrong with 720p if thats what youre inferring..

720p can look every bit as good as 1080i when done properly. No ifs, ands, or buts about it...
