watched The Prestige on my new PS3 last night (great film btw).

anyway, whilst i was watching it,..... at 3 random points in the film it started to slightly skip/freeze (a black screen came on for a few seconds, then carried on with the film).

i then weant back to fastforward through the whole film .... and it didnt skip or have any problems at all.

has anybody else has this ?

it is a brand new disc and a brand new console ... what could be causing these problems? just hope it doesnt happen on any other movies

1. Check for disc rot, deep scratches etc.
2. Clean once and play it
3. If the problem still persist replace it coz you might be having a bad disc.
4. Try playing the movie in your friends PS3 (if possible).

Is your PS3 60GB or 80GB ?
There has been few complaints regarding Blu-ray playback in 80 GB PS3s.

1. none, not even the slightest mark
2. as above

bad thing is i cant remember when it skipped slightly, and cant find it when i fastforward, i also dont fancy watching the movie again just yet.

it was the slightest skip, and happened 3 times, so dont think its worth the hassle of sending the disc back to be honest

o, and its the 60GB version :)

Pray tell, what is your firmware version? Last time I had these symptoms was pre-v.1.5x or whatever it was...back when occasional freezes were the norm. Anyhow, if you aren't running at least firmware v.1.8+ I would suggest updating.

Also i don't know if you are WiFi or not but i remember people having problems with the active WiFi on their 60GB unit. Turn off the WiFi on the system and the problems should go away

my retailer has accepted to replace the disc,

so going to go with that option, i have watched a few movies since this one and havnt had a problem, so im guessing it may be a dodgy disc.
