View Full Version : APF 2K8 - $39.99 at Best Buy
All Pro Football 2K8 is going for $39.99 at Best Buy this week according to their ad. At that price how could you NOT pick it up?!? Wasn't this released less than 30 days ago? If so, I would think a lot of people would be in their trying to get some money back, too.
spinksjinx 08-19-07, 12:12 PM I paid 40 when it was released but if I paid $60 I wouldnt complain. The game is the best damn sports game I played offline/online in YEARS.
I dont think many stores price match game price drops.
I gladly paid $60.00 for my copy and I am happy I did.
Fry's has had the APF for 39.99 for a couple of weeks as well. Its going up against Madden. The only problem is that all of my friends have Madden, so that influences my decision on which one to get.

Indeed but I would also like to add mostly that the whole group online in 2k8 with the select few the majority have been positive...Its seriously the most laid back crowd in an online game in a long time...But then again coming from Fight Night and Gears anything will be relaxed...But everyone who plays this game just wants to play football...
OnlookerDelay 08-19-07, 09:26 PM That pretty much cinches my decision. I rented NCAA 2008 with my Blockbuster gamepass and didn't like the flat trajectory passing, single camera option, no CPU Vs. CPU play. Other than that, I liked it.
I'm told the Madden 08 game is also limited to one camera angle for live play, and it doesn't have CPU Vs. CPU play either. I hear that it is possible to put some loft on your passes in Madden though. Still, I like kicking back every now and then and watching a TV Broadcast style CPU Vs. CPU game. It's bizarre that the XBox version will do this, but the next-gen console version can't!?
I played the demo of APF 2K8, and found it more immersive. I wasn't sure how I'd relate to the ficticious teams and predominantly ficticious players, but that's less of a gamble for $20 off!

i rented the APF 2k8, it plays a decent game of football, but imo, it seems rushed, basically a port of the last iteration of NFL 2k on xbox, with some added features thrown in like player trading cards and forming a team. the gameplay is OK, but as lame as this sounds, the lack of licensing does actually put me off. I'm no huge madden devotee, I've always liked both series, but seems to me, this generation, Madden is the way to go for pro football.
myself, I love NFL, but college even moreso. I've been playing NCAA08 religiously, imo, it's a brilliant game. Yeah, if you didn;'t like it all that much, than maybe you won't like Madden, because it's basically the same game, albeit madden has higher production values and more features. I recommend NCAA08, that online community is actually awesome too. I haven't run into anyone who wasn't cool. Too often, Madden is full of trash talkers and morons., I highly reccommend NCAA08, cautiously recommend 2k8, especially if you love the 2k sports style. that said, Madden and NCAA have the superior football game this gen (imo)

The demo is horrible compared to the real deal. The fictitious teams will not even be an issue once you get into the game. I love swapping out players and trying out new guys with different abilities and customizing my playbook to their talents...It makes a very shallow game seem really deep...I thought I would be opposed to it but in actuality I havent had this much fun with a sports game in a long time...Its deep in its own right I will say that.
Also you dont know how many times I have taken my Cowboys and played them against the Packers/Patriots/Steelers/Ravens/Broncos and a few others online...Its fun, if you like football get it.

I'm a bigger college football fan than NFL. I wanted to like NCAA 08, but the flat trajectory passing is what really frustrates me. I still play NCAA 2006 on my XBox, and I'm able to put some touch on the ball with lofted passes. No matter how lightly I tap the button in NCAA 2008, the ball takes a low trajectory, or so it seems.
I love the running game in NCAA 2008, but the package seems incomplete without touch passing. Maybe it was the fact that I was playing with Duke? ;)

I may eventually pick up NCAA 08, but I don't see $60 worth of value in it. If they cut it to $40, I'll jump on it. I haven't really gotten into football yet anyway. My football hormones don't get flowing until September. This exhibition NFL tripe is unwatchable! The games are absolutley souless, but I can't blame the players or the fans actually.
I liked NFL 2K5 on the XBox. It came in a year when NCAA had fallen flat on its face for the XBox and PS2. It had plenty of chance to grow on me that season. I never have gotten into Madden... not sure why really. It just has a lifeless atmosphere for some reason.

If you like 2k5 you will love all pro. The gameplay is the same for the most part.
properbostonian 08-20-07, 09:17 AM Coozie, thanks for letting us know.
I was a huge fan of 2K5 football so I just might bite.
Curous to know for those who played all three football games this year, which do they like best?
Simply put, the best football game to come out in years.
Well worth $40 bucks.

When you do pick it up, try to talk yourself out of putting steve grogan on your team(I assuming your a pats fan too) Just like and real life he can't throw the ball.:) Irving Fryar is good though.
I have both (All Pro & Madden), and while I have limited time with Madden (just got my XBOX back due to the RROD), I really like the gameplay of All Pro much better. It is more immersive, and I have much more fun. There have been games were I actually feel like I have something on the line (calling time outs just to take a breath). Madden doesn't have that feel to me. Again, I have limited time with Madden, but in a game last night I had more INT than completed passes with Roethlisberger. May have been my inexperience. The running game in All Pro seems much more polished too. Although, on occasion with Barry Sanders I think it's TOO easy to run! I'm sure I'll love Madden in the end, but right now I think I'll enjoy All Pro more. I wish 2k would get the NFL license back, if they would have been able to produce a NFL product than I don't think I would've even bought Madden this year. I didn't purchase the 360 version last year (didn't have a 360), what's up with the radio announcer? Did EA think this would be good? If they would've gotten the radio announcers for each home team, that would've been good (although I know nearly impossible to accomplish), but as it is now I have PS2 football games with better audio!

Very funny!! Thanks.
atlbrett 08-23-07, 11:53 PM I too like to set games up with cpu vs cpu to see how close the results are to the real life game. you'd be surprised to see that sometimes the results are really close. that being said...does apf 2k8 allow this option? I cannot figure out why the 360 or ps3 does not have this option...yet the xbox and
ps2 does allow this. thanks for any help yoou good folks can provide....
spinksjinx 08-24-07, 12:28 AM For anyone who has it for the 360 and wants to join the AVS league use the search function for leagues (rb in league list) and search AVS enter password 985 and you are in. We got 1 spot to fill and would like to get it going. The sooner the better, good group of guys. Shortened it down from last time as nobody was playing so this is all active players.
