my piece of **** jbl e250p just died. The sub woofer still turns on but if i have the wire plugged in it does nothing, if i remove the signal wire and touch it to the other ring of the rca terminal on the subwoofer, the woofer moves and output a tone not the tone from the tv but just a bzzzzzzzzzz noise. I am excited since i just ordered the h-100 as i have heard jbl has issues with amplifiers going bad and no one stocks it for replacement. If someone can help me out i would like to try to repair the jbl and give it to my girlfriend for her apartment

You could try using the high-level inputs on the E250P instead of the RCA input and see if it works in that configuration. Note that you will have to set the receiver to Large front speakers and No subwoofer if you hook it up like that. Based on your test where the woofer produced a tone, it appears that at least some parts of the amplifier are still functional.

Doesn't seem to me like it's dead...

If you bought it from Best Buy and you got their "extended warranty" they will either fix it or replace it....no questions asked. But I feel you, I've had to replace several JBL subs. I thought they had mostly fixed their amp problems with the E250P (compared to the PB12).

Well I’ve been using a professional JBL sub for the best part of 9 ½ years now and not problem has occurred.

You need something of size power like a JBL 4645 range 4645 4645B 4645C to shake the room with violent and aggressive force.

I had JBL with similar symptoms and had one of my car audio dealer's head tech check it out. Turned out to be a bad cap. I let him keep it. He threw out the amp and the speaker but was able to use the box.
