I think the Donner cut is OK but like the original superman 2 better. Anyone know if the original is schedule to be released any time this year or next year? I did a search but could not find it.

Thx,
Claude

I haven't heard anything but I too would be interested in the original theatrical cut of S2.

I am hoping for an ultimate edition of Superman 2, which is a mixture of the best of the theatrical cut, the Donner cut and any unused footage (eg. Non killing to kid in the country town with the Police light). Come on Warner, give Superman 2 the same treatment as Blade Runner.

There is a scene in East Houston filmed by Richard Lester, where the child tries to flee from the town on horseback after General Zod drops his father Jody. As the child is riding away General Zod says "I said no one leaves!" and Non throws the Police light at the boy killing him. One of the towns folk says, "He was only a boy", to which Ursa replies, "Who will never become a man." I can understand why the scene was cut from the theatrical version, but it would be good to have it reinserted as it firstly fixes a glaring cut in the footage and also demonstrates the brutality of the three villains.
