Depends on what you need/want from a sub.

My advice is save your $ for something better. The forum is full of threads about different grades/levels of subs.

That's an interesting little powered woofer. I'm not sure it qualifies as a subwoofer though.

Useful in a computer 2.1 system.
Useful in a very constricted listening environment for a 2.1 music system.

Useless for a HT system or music system in any thing but the smallest room.

If one's only subwoofer location is on a shelf of your AV rack...well there ya go. :)

Also, If the wife insists that there will be no subwoofer in her livingroom, you can tell her it part of you indoor golf putting unit by placing a small ramp up to the port. :D

maybe ONE is useless for HT, but how about a stack of 5? How cool would that be??!!!??

HAHA, There you go. I'm definately a yamaha fan, I really like their receivers and higher end speakers, all but their subwoofers. These new rack mountable woofers are pretty neat. Your right though, they really have no use in a serious HT system, or even for music, way too small, and it doesn't reach very low. 5 in a stack, well it would look neat, but probably not sun much better, you would get increased volume, and not much else. I think yamaha knows they can't really compete with the igher end subs, so they are going for the unique approach, give consumers something a littler differant.

That is a joke of a sub,it is a BASS MODULE and should not be confused with a true subwoofer.

6.5" woofer,with under 12mm Xmax cannot do much,look at the frequency response...they claim 30hz...@ -10dB maybe.

There are better bass moduled and subs for the PC,get a Velodyne SPL800R or a Sunfire D8,both make this unit obsolete.

You can stack as many as you want, the more you stack the more you waste money increaing its limited output alone. I will take garbage bags and stack them...then we can compete two stacks of garbage mine will at least cost nothing . LOL
