Right now I'm having a hard time deciding. I'm gaming and watching hd-dvds on the fw900 now with the 360 via vga. Its a wonderful display, damn near perfect everything (colors, blacks, shadow detail etc.). Its basically a 24 inch pioneer kuro plasma. But thats the problem its small. I tried to ride it out but I just want something bigger right now. My budget is 1.6k and the samsung is the best i found in that price range. It has great features and good pq. Maybe not as good as fw900 but not that far behind.
So my fellow gamers what would u do? I mean the fw900 gets the job done. should i just pocket my money. anybody else gaming on small displays?
(For those that don't know the FW900 is a 24 inch wide screen crt monitor. Some say its the best pc monitor ever. Still being used by movie studios.)

Would I call the FW900 the best monitor ever? Probably not, however I'd probably call it the greatest display device ever conceived by man. That being said for 1.6k you can buy a pretty damn nice display and the size increase you'd get would really make HD shine, the FW900 is awesome but unless you're sitting 2 feet from it you really can't appreciate all it can do for you and even if you are sitting 2 feet from it wouldn't you prefer to have a big ass TV and sit about 5 feet from it? :D
I'm pretty sure that Sammy is a good TV but I'd also check into Vizio's higher end 50" LCDs. I think within your budget you can get a 50" 1080p LCD with a 6ms response time. I'm a former budget brand doubter but I just bought the VX37L and officially love Vizio, the only things this TV can't match my 32" Sharp CRT in are black levels (which are pretty damn close) and handling SD content. I checked out Vizio's high end 50" sitting beside a 50" Bravia when I bought my TV and I know they weren't calibrated but they both looked damn good and nearly identical.

yeah im gaming 2 feet away now, its great. but i kinda wanna chill back in da bed and get my game on. cant do that with the fw900. ima check out the samsung 2moro during my lunch break
I was wondering the same thing when I had my FW900, but after switching to a Sony 34HS420 it was immediately apparent that the size more than compensated for the loss in resolution and general PQ. I'm shooting for an XBR970 now.

Hey I own the 4061F and thought I would comment. I think it is an excellent tv for gaming and I have nothing at all bad to say about it. I run my 360 and PS3 into this tv as well as a receiver. It is really good in picture quality and excellent overall for gaming. I picked it up on Amazon for around 1450 I believe, so you may want to try there. Enjoy!

Well folks I pick up a 40 inch Samsung LN-T4053H lcd 2day. The Samsung LN-T4061F was out of stock. I think I'm happy with my purchase though. It was cheaper plus i don't think 1080p matters at 40 inches. The 720p Samsung gives off a wonderful picture. Only negative is the black levels but I knew that was going to be the case going in anyway. So now the fw900 resides in the closet and I can get my gaming on 6 feet away in the bed.
