View Full Version : Audio out of sync after setup

Hi, I just set up an HD tuner and hooked it up to my A/V receiver using the optical digital cable. Sound is fine, problem is the sound is out of sync with the TV picture. Here's my setup:

Antenna>HD tuner>HMDI>TV
>RCA cables to audio in on TV
>optical digital audio>A/V receiver
Before I bought the HD tuner, I had the TV's audio out connected to the A/V receiver's TV/DBS input. Perhaps therein lies the problem?
I've read other posts that mention audio delay issues with HDMI. Do I just need to unplug something? NB if possible, I'd like to keep the RCA jacks plugged into the TV, for times when I want to see the DTV channels but have the sound coming from the TV speakers, thus bypassing the A/V receiver. Thanks

It sounds like your TV has a video processing delay, so that's what's causing the sync problems. You didn't list what receiver you have. Some receivers have an audio delay function that will let you adjust the delay so that it syncs up with the video.
