This thing got 17 million plus viewers for it's premier. Everyone loves it. Las week when I picked up Bioshock, I saw people buying the HSM2 videogame.

There's no way Shrek the 3rd is going to move more than HSM2.

Transformers without PCM is going to suck. Bruckheimer is tight with Bay, and all of the Bruckheimers have been BD so far. I think Michael Bay will probably voice a concern over this. He knows tech.

I guess Paramount got some bad data. If any study know how to make money it's Disney.(I wonder if P knows theire BDs didn't sell as well because of the crippled audio?) Again that's something Disney doesn't do.

High School Musical is an institution now. Paramount can't compete with that.

I think it's going to be a wash.

For example, as I mentioned elsewhere, no parent is going to be able to choose between Pixar and Shrek and will just wait out the format war now.

Most people who own blu ray players are PS3 owners. HS Musical isn't a movie that appeals to the PS3 audience which is 18-35 year old males. Movies like spiderman and transformers appeal to that audience. And parents are not gonna upgrade to HD so their kids can watch HS Musical in HD.

We can argue whether it matters or not, but it is coming this December.

Disney has had a very rough time making money lately. Yes Pirates did well, national treasure was a pleasant surprise. But disney is not just movies. Have you noticed the musical chairs going on around there? They had a good early 80's to 90's but they have been struggling. Animation has gone to pasture, pixar is the only thing saving disney's animation IMO. The company is rediscovering it's identity. The parks are looking like heck. I am curious as to what disney will do.
