Hello All,
After rewiring everything from getting a new receiver, I have noticed that my component cable no longer works.
I flip it to "TV" on cable itself and I get sound and 480i but I cannot get the "HDTV" setting to work. Kinda strange, huh?
I know it is not the receiver as other component devices work just fine.
This is annoying.
I see that there are 3 component cables commonly available:
1. The MS brand ($39.99....$42.99 at BB)
2. React Component cable for like $10
3. Psyclone Component cable for !!! $75.00
Of course, I'm leaning toward the React. Does anyone know if it has the optical input as well like the MS branded cable?
Thanks.
While it's possible the cable has failed, I still wonder if maybe something isn't hooked up correctly...
Am I correct that you're plugging the Xbox into the receiver directly, and the receiver is plugged into the TV?
If so, keep in mind that not all component connections are created equal -- some accept HD and SD, and some accept only SD (and do not accept HD resolutions).
You mentioned that other component devices work fine - are these HD devices or just SD devices?
If the xbox is your only High Definition component device, I'd consider the following:
Are you certain that this component input on your receiver accepts HD resolutions and not only SD? Also, how is the receiver connected to the TV, via component? Are you certain the component output on the receiver can output HD resolutions and not just SD? Are you certain that the component input on the TV can accept HD resolutions and not just SD?

I'm sure it is the cable. The Wii is the only other component source I'm using.
I have 3 hdmi sources and the receiver is connected to the TV using hdmi. No other problems at all.

Is the Wii connected to your AV receiver and is it passing it through properly? If it is, you might have to replace your cables or there is some connection problem with your receiver such as the cables being connected to the wrong plugs on the back.

Wii isn't HD so it is still possible the receiver isn't liking HD over component. (What res is the 360 trying to send out, btw?)
Its your money, of course, but before spending anything, I'd try plugging the 360 directly to the TV via component. If it fails to do HD, *then* I'd say its the cable.
YMMV, of course.

Yeah I would try to bypass the receiver and plug directluy into the TV, you'll get the best signal that way without having to pass thru another device..then you will know

Yeah, I tried to pass directly to the TV and it still wouldn't work.
Has anyone heard of a component cable going bad like this?

Ok,
After trying my friend's cable and still not getting a picture (but still audio), I moved it to a different TV and the same thing.
I tried doing a search and didn't get much info -- has there been a problem with video loss on the 360s?
I just got Bioshock as well.....:(

Are you under warranty? I'd call MS and say your screen freezes at startup and you have the ring of death ;)... KIDDING!
Are you sure you didn't hook an output to your xbox and fry it?
