But yeah the holiday seasons going to be spendy for HD-DVD. TV Casualty 08-20-07, 06:39 PM I already went out and bought Bourne Identity on impulse (at a B&M store, no less) to celebrate this today...and that's not even a Paramount title! This exclusivity announcement is going to get expensive. lgans316 08-20-07, 09:16 PM Great news for HD DVD !!! Blu-ray still has the edge coz the sleeping fox is still there. joerod 08-20-07, 09:24 PM Blu ray has Disney and Fox so why can't HD DVD have Paramount and Dreamworks? :) RudyMeister 08-20-07, 09:30 PM Now I'm gonna go broke, and sleep on the couch.:D Heroes,Transformers, etc. etc. ugggg Start saving now for a Paramount Holiday Season :D evolver 08-20-07, 09:34 PM Don't forget Star Trek Remastered. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OAKTeuuVdcA nohkul 08-21-07, 01:06 AM Well you'd have bought them any way right? But yeah the holiday seasons going to be spendy for HD-DVD. Two words: Amazon Wishlist. It doesn't have to be expensive (for you). Friends and family only need to spend $20 and they'll be getting you a gift they know you will love. Adding some Paramount titles to my list right now.... GordoSan 08-21-07, 01:40 AM sorry to hear that ken (kutaragi) :D Wait, didn't he resign? I think he's been sleeping on the couch for a while. :) Dr Kain 08-21-07, 01:47 AM I have to agree though, it is stupid to just support one format when you could be making profits from both. Tarpon 08-21-07, 01:53 AM I have to agree though, it is stupid to just support one format when you could be making profits from both. Who says there are any profits in HDM yet? FoolintheRain 08-21-07, 02:11 AM BD manufacturing line ~ $1.7 million BD mastering systems (minimum 2 per facility) ~ 2 million (each) Upgrading DVD to HD DVD line ~150 thousand Upgrading mastering system ~145 thousand Rick Marquardt, former GM, Warner Advanced Media Operations, From Ars Technica Call me crazy, but I see the advantage of being HD DVD exlusive. I'm getting paid 150 million (which could come from either side), but in addition, I'm producing at a much cheaper initial investment and thus creating a much larger profit margin...which is what disc sales are all about :) If you had a company and were approached what would you do, even without the 150 million dollar incentive? Pay 5.7 million dollars to make media or pay 295 thousand dollars to make media. Seems simple enough to me. AaronSCH 08-21-07, 02:14 AM The exclusive could be for as little as a year, according to two people familiar with the situation. I can't believe this comment has been overlooked in both forums. HD DVD software sales have hit record lows, I dont know if two years will be enough. But interesting to watch and see of course. I would like to see this deal drive some mad competition with lower disk prices and getting AAA content out. If I can walk into a B&M store and pickup Godfather for my A2, or pick up Snow White for my PS3, then this type of competition is well worth it. ryoohki 08-21-07, 02:24 AM Well those title were coming out on HD DVD anyway.. so.. what's the difference now LOL! Neutral people will take it on HD DVD... David Scott 08-21-07, 02:29 AM http://www.eproductwars.com/dvd/graphs/salesrank-1-1-recent30.jpg Are you sure about that one? Hmmm, so sales have gone down since the release of Bourne and 300, that's really surprising  Record lows. The only record lows I see is blu-ray trolls posting in the HD DVD software forum.....except for one. Blumoon 08-21-07, 02:37 AM Record lows? oh yeah a record low for the last month. In fact, name calling is against the rules and considered baiting - especially when someone is very polite about it. I reported you to the mods, please be nicer in the future. Ok, so you come into the HD DVD software forum to thread cap, saying HD DVD is at "record lows" for sales. This is not true. So, then you report me for calling it for what it is, a blatant attempt to bait the HD DVD crowd into something other than what the thread is about. This thread is about having to spend some serious $$$ on all the great movies coming to HD DVD. You come in and make a post about sales of HD DVD being at a record low. hmmmm??? GordoSan 08-21-07, 02:58 AM btw, calling someone out as a troll is not name calling and they might be on to your trolling if they read your posts :D Blumoon 08-21-07, 02:59 AM Now thats what I call baiting! Nice job! You reported him to the mods.:D You're good. So what your saying then, any opposing viewpoint from any member that backs both formats is baiting? If this is what your saying, be clear. I am puting an end to the insults period. Or dual format supporters arent allowed to post in these forums? Blumoon 08-21-07, 03:03 AM it for 18 months or until the 09 ,that two christmas seasons ,which should be more then enough to down blu ray to umd status So then this isnt thread crapping? It has nothing to do with the thread. By your definitions its thread crapping and trolling, but yet no one insults or accuses him of baiting or trolling. Why the double standard? Again - only if I completely agree and shower HD DVD with praise, its not thread crapping. David Scott 08-21-07, 03:04 AM So what your saying then, any opposing viewpoint from any member that backs both formats is baiting? If this is what your saying, be clear. I am puting an end to the insults period. Or dual format supporters arent allowed to post in these forums? So, it's your viewpoint that HD DVD sales are at "record lows"? Is that really your viewpoint? Record lows? Or did you just say this in a thread about buying some great Paramount movies absolutely adding to the conversation? trgraphics 08-21-07, 03:07 AM You call yourself Blumoon and then wonder why people accuse you of being a troll. Jeez..... Oh yea, have you even read your own tag? Double jeez... Droid6 08-21-07, 03:10 AM Get out of our forum troll! GordoSan 08-21-07, 03:14 AM So what your saying then, any opposing viewpoint from any member that backs both formats is baiting? If this is what your saying, be clear. I am puting an end to the insults period. Or dual format supporters arent allowed to post in these forums? Again, good job on the baiting! I almost fell for it that time. Shame on me. If we all fell for it, you would probably have everyone in this thread banned. When it comes to baiting, you are the master.:D Edit: Yeah, Dual Format supporters are always welcome, but I see your player only supports "HD lite", so I'm not sure if that qualifies or not. You should ask a mod, just in case. evolver 08-21-07, 03:27 AM There is no troll: it is only your mind which craps. :D Blumoon 08-21-07, 03:28 AM So, it's your viewpoint that HD DVD sales are at "record lows"? Is that really your viewpoint? Record lows? Or did you just say this in a thread about buying some great Paramount movies absolutely adding to the conversation? I said it in response to the post directly above it. So I guess Im guilty of trolling when the person above me isnt? If his post had nothing to do with buying paramount movies, then how does it add to the thread? And why didnt anyone accuse him of thread crapping or call him names? This question keeps getting avoided. Why did no one attack the poster I was responding too? Iggster 08-21-07, 03:31 AM Get out of our forum troll! Please dont call other members trolls even if they are trolling. It doesnt help any side look any better. I sure hate it when I am called a troll on the blu side even though I own both. btw record lows? lol wait till the news spreads then will see which side will hit record lows but blu ray I doubt will ever break its lowest record which was what like 6000 and right now its in the 200 range. I doubt it will go lower then that but who knows... We have been proven today that one day can make a difference. Droid6 08-21-07, 03:42 AM Please dont call other members trolls even if they are trolling. It doesnt help any side look any better. What should I call him, thread crapper? Droid6 08-21-07, 03:46 AM I said it in response to the post directly above it. So I guess Im guilty of trolling when the person above me isnt? True, his thread was not exactly on topic but at the same time he's not in the HD DVD forum trying to put HD DVD in a bad light. DJ Matt 08-21-07, 04:25 AM Why can't we just all get along? I think this part of the forum needs more Mods to cut down on this kind of stuff. I own a forum myself and I have people who can heavily moderate to where things don't get out of hand.
