IF TRUE, This is going to be one great update. DIVX, IPTV....
SurfingMatt27 08-20-07, 07:42 PM It's fake, Teamxbox has it posted too, some nice features though!
jagouar 08-20-07, 07:47 PM Some nice ones but overall would be a dissapointing update imo....
iptv is already confirmed and still is going to require that you have at&t uverse.
Stangs55 08-20-07, 07:50 PM Clan support :)
spinksjinx 08-20-07, 08:52 PM About time for vision upgrade it looks better plugged into my ps3, IPTV is useless until ATT gets off their arse and starts installing those fiber optics outside of big cities...Im still waiting on a god damn sleep timer outside of 6 hours. The function is their why cant we get adjustments! Also show some MKV support you whores since you like to act like its a media hub.
bryansj 08-20-07, 09:03 PM I stopped reading at Xvid support. If anything says fake it's Xvid/Divx support. Hope I'm wrong.
lacombo 08-20-07, 09:15 PM looks fake with few exceptions
Robocop2 08-20-07, 09:17 PM forget all of that where's my next BC update?
Shizelbs 08-20-07, 09:43 PM I'll believe it when I see it.
It Might Be Fake, But Everything Sounds Very Possible.
setebos 08-20-07, 10:43 PM i have seen my friends dashboard with iptv functionality still has some missing components but alot of it matches what is on his list.
logicalnoise 08-20-07, 10:52 PM xiud support would make my day. I've been pulling hair out trying to get tversity to work.
the red worm 08-21-07, 12:03 AM If the dashboard needs an update before the messenger kit is released then shouldn't we see an update pretty soon?
The kit releases the first week of September, usually they do updates in October/November.
SpeedyHTPC 08-21-07, 02:47 AM Fake or not still doesnt support the Logitech G25.
I wish the dashboard would get a cosmetic upgrade to make the 360 look a bit more high-tech and expensive by taking some styling from Vista.
flood222 08-21-07, 12:40 PM Fake or not still doesnt support the Logitech G25.
As much as I dont care about this personally; it would be a huge benefit for a lot of folks.
xiud support would make my day. I've been pulling hair out trying to get tversity to work.
Yeah, you're not alone. This is the one area they really need to address if they want the 360 to truly be a "media center".
mikepaul 08-21-07, 01:18 PM It's still not a LOT of work to have WinAVI convert divx or xvid or whatever to WMV while you sleep and stream your videos later. Also not a LOT of difference in size.
Wouldn't be bad to have direct support, but not absolutely necessary...

hmmm good point I recently upgraded my pc and I can transcode at 3.5x(compared to my old comps 1.5x). I may just end up doint that. I'd likely get better results quality wise. but still fulls support would save me the 30 minutes.
Hyabusha 08-21-07, 01:40 PM Where's the "Force" 1080p thru HDMI option? :(
jeepwrang3 08-21-07, 02:18 PM I really want the Music Player to be able to switch sources while playing a game. Such as I start playing a game, go thru the load process and then realize i'm streaming music off my one computer but want to stream it off another CPU. Right now you have to go back to the dashboard and disconnect the one cpu connection and then choose the other CPU, its really just a hassle.
Really needs an option to display movies (hd-dvd) at one resolution and games at another.
byronmhome 08-22-07, 11:03 AM Really needs an option to display movies (hd-dvd) at one resolution and games at another.
why?
so you can play games at 720p (and not lose temporal resolution) and play movies at 1080i ( and not lose spatial resolution) without having to remember to switch the resolution every time you switch what you are doing. You want to have a media hub, then it needs to recognize there are different needs for different media.
spinksjinx 08-23-07, 10:04 PM 540 lines of resolution or 720 lines of resolution...Yeah I am still going with 720.
cesslinger 08-23-07, 10:12 PM What I would like to see is the capability to run a separate OS like the PS3.

Your TV only has one resolution. You should be playing games and movies at whatever your TV is. If you have a 720p TV then sending a 1080i signal will just be converted to 720p.
Chairface1 08-24-07, 10:03 AM I would really like to see MS allow more manipulation of Xbox 1 saves. Right now, you're only given the option to delete those saves. I would like to back those up like any other files.
I somewhat expect MS to make this happen since Sony has just recently (firmware 1.80) allowed users to freely move PS1 and PS2 saves to and from the PS3.

I have a 1080p tv which doesn't accept 1080p input. I know how to use it. If you have the settings set to 1080i while playing a game you convert 720p to 1080i in the xbox (with little to no artifacts) and lose any frames over 30fps. If I'm watching a hd-dvd and I have it set to 720p then I'm losing lines of resolution from the conversion and gaining nothing.
Thus 1080i for movies, 720p for games. And 1080i is not 540 lines of resolution, it's 1080.

At the end of the day your display is still native 1080P. No matter how you send the signal off.
I still want party chat!!
Xbox1 did it!! waaah!! (for reals though)

He'd still want to do what he's saying. Otherwise, he's converting the 1080p HD DVD on disc down to 720p, then back up to 1080p. If he outputs 1080i from the HD DVD, he's just doing a 3:2 pulldown to get to 1080i, and a reverse 3:2 pulldown to get losslessly back to 1080p. Running the games at 1080i has the potential to introduce artifacts. If MS would support some simple configuration, his problem would be solved. I'd like to see a third screen resolution setting for Xbox1 BC games. Many of them don't run properly when the 360 is set to 720p, and it's annoying to flip back and forth between settings for something so mundane.

Thank you. It is a shame there isn't more advanced configs on the xbox for things like this and screen adjustments, but maybe they want to keep it as simple as possible for people.

Well, that is what they've said.
There is only so much room in the FlashROM and they have only so much room for growth in there. So anything that goes in there has to be used by a significant fraction of the user base; niche features, no matter how convenient, get bumped down if there's anything halfway acceptable as a workaround.
If you look at the past updates, they've been built around:
1- Bug fixes
2- broad usability enhancements that benefit a lot of people
3- new features that add significant end-user value
4- new features that open up new revenue streams
Easy to see which are the top priorities, right? 1 & 4. ;-)
squallsan 08-26-07, 04:55 PM I still want a freakin browser, I mean come on...even the Wii has one lol.

Yep, I'm so glad we can log onto messenger now. :)
newfmp3 08-27-07, 10:45 AM xvid....nuff said. Would even tempt me to actually plug the thing into the net againt to risk getting the darn update.
