Hey Guys,

The back of my HT room (basement) will have an opening of about 8'. Should I waste money on the double drywall and green glue if this is the case? Doesn't the opening at the back defeat the purpose?

thanks!

The only reason I would double drywall is if you think that you might close up that back wall in the future....

Don't waste the money unless as stated you are enclosing it later and you might as well do the second layer and all then if you do.

You could double drywall and GG the entire basement.

I asked a similar questions a few weeks ago as I'm in a similar situation. I want an "open" theater room. I plan on building common walls and treating the surfaces with sound diffusion material.
