OK, so we now know that we're in for a long format war. What is the best and most productive way for Blu-Ray users to respond? Here are some options:

1. Fire off a nasty e-mail to Paramount (not likely to do any good though)
2. Boycott Paramount/Dreamworks products.
3. Give up: sell your PS3 and just watch SD-DVD's.
4. Go neutral and buy Universal/Paramount HD-DVD's.
5. Ignore this as a temporary glitch and keep buying BD's.

During the day, I've thought about all these choices, but still haven't figured out which would be the better choice.

6. Crying like a baby and wetting myself.

Seemed to work for awhile. :)

#4 or #5. I'm at about 4.5. When it was just Universal, I was 4.8 or 4.9

I dont know about you but I will keep on buying the great movies that are coming out on blu ray between now and january.

Why does everyone act like as if paramount\dw amounted to %90 of the br releases or something? If you cannot stand the idea of buying a hd-dvd player and going neutral just get those movies on dvd and upconvert.

I dont understand the chicken little attitude here today.

#6: Don't buy Paramount BDs that aren't there to be bought anyway. :)

Man, this place is like an asylum today. Chill out and just roll with the news; the sky isn't falling. There's still a lot of news that will happen between now and November 23 (Black Friday).

If you're not prepared for all kinds of emotional rollercoasters between now and then, then the only thing to do is stop paying any attention to the format war and buy the stuff on the shelves that interests you. :)

I might be tempted to extract the video files from Paramount/Dreamworks HD-DVD's and burn them on BD-R's.

But with what sony has said recently - standalone Blu ray players will not be able to play them...

If you support Blu-ray, then support it. Buy only Blu-ray and don't give in to temptation of the red pill. Don't even buy red studios on S-DVD....rent if you have to. Stop supporting MS and buy Apple or go Linux. Don't go see red films in the theater. Anything short of total adherence to a single format by early adopters will only prolong the war and possibly lead to the eventual failure of both formats.

Of course, red fanboys can do likewise from their perspective.

Somewhere between 4 and 5. Honestly, I'd probably wait for the rest of the year to play out before making any decisions if you're already at one.

I am going to try and avoid paramount pictures/ Dreamworks if I can.

I feel that they misled me and BD supports who own a PS3. I downloaded a bunch of their trailers off the PSN(Bee movie, hot rod, stardust, shrek, transformers) and watched their movies in theaters.

For them to backout of releasing on BD after stating they were neutral and releasing HD trailers on the PSN. It feels like they lied to me.

Oh well, I have more money to spend on other movies.
