View Full Version : These forums are becoming almost unbearable with mindless predictions about studios..
HD DVD fanatics get a break, and all of a sudden.
Disney is going to go neutral. (Even though they want region coding on new releases, capacity, and strongly support BD)
Fox is going to neutral. (Even though they officially announced like 20+ titles today)
WB is going to go exclusive. (Even though they gladly sit on top with the most sales in HD)
Sony is going to call it quits. (Even though their format has led in sales all year)
People are running to the stores to buy HD DVD. (Even though people still don't give a damn about the format war, and odds are will just sit it out longer)
HD DVD is winning! (Even though it isn't!)
Is this just pent up frustration we're seeing? I can't even begin to weed through the mindless crap. Let em have their day I guess. Guess what's frustrating to me is even though I'd like BD to win (entirely for scratch resistance), I couldn't give a rat's ass as I own both.
I'm at a loss for words. My ignore list grew large today.
Blumoon 08-20-07, 11:25 PM Aww man cut em some slack. The little guys needs something to cheer about. To neutral supporters like myself (neutral unless its on a combo), its really about time something happened for HD DVD. I was worried my A2 was a waste of money.
Let em have fun with it, maybe they will stop being so defensive and touchy from now on.

Same boat as me. Guess it gives me the final excuse to get the Sammy Dual Format player :D
GodsLabRat 08-20-07, 11:36 PM I think you're seeing two very powerful forces collide: One one hand, we have the (mostly BD or neutral) fans who just wanted this war over with, and see today's events as a sign that no end is in sight. On the other, the (mostly HD-DVD) fans who haven't had much good news lately, and are now seeing this turn of events as a sign that maybe there is a brighter future for their format than was previously thought.
By themselves, these two groups are fairly harmless. Put together in the same group with a juicy bit of news, and ka-blooey!
dildatonr 08-20-07, 11:37 PM I'm more annoyed that almost the entire first page of this forum is overrun with paramount threads full of the same jibber jabber.
SuprSlow 08-20-07, 11:39 PM What I don't get is the people that already OWN BD players saying they are going to stop buying BD, or any HDM for that matter, until the "war" is over. That makes no sense whatsoever. Even if the HD-DVD format somehow prevails, you'll STILL own a BD player, and STILL have BDs, so what's the point in sitting on the sidelines?
I can see how this would deter someone thinking of buying into either BD or HDDVD, but for those who already have a player?
dildatonr 08-20-07, 11:41 PM I suspect alterior motives and irrational emotional response to a situtaion where some felt tremendous confidence. and now that confidence is gone. I almost preferred the irrational chest thumping crap to be honest.

It's actually
(c + b) * a = x
and a = 0 ;)
