IGN Review (http://dvd.ign.com/articles/813/813943p1.html)

The bottom line: "If you haven't seen it - see it. If you have - see it again. This HD presentation is not to be missed. It is - in point of fact - fairly heroic in itself!"

But beatboy77 said that the PQ wasn't very good with lots of grain. How could his review be so different? :D

Must be his video setup since IGN writes ...

... 1080p transfer ... deep black levels, excellent polish, remarkable contrast and a general lack of noticeable grain or ghosting, any episode of Heroes is likely to look as good, if not better, than some of the movies currently available in the format. To anybody still uncertain, Heroes on HD DVD is an excellent example of how the high-def format can enrich the content of a show - from the show's Tim Sale artwork to its well-integrated effects. A top-notch transfer.

Score: 9 out of 10

I'm guessing High-Def Digest will score like IGN!

Am I suposed to watch the Extended Pilot before the rest of the show then? is this just the first episode extended is what I am trying to say :) as I still have never seen the show, dont want to mess up the shows running order.

Still it sounds like a Mighty set, maybe too much to ever read, view and listen to :D a good thing too for once.

I take his reviews about as serious as I do Bill Hunt's "My Two Cents" columns.

Haven't seen more than 5 minutes of the show, but decided to blind buy it using store credit rather than wait 6 months getting it from Netflix. :p

This is a blind buy for me and I think I'm going to love it. Being able to watch all the episodes at will is awesome.

Comes to $62.99 without the rebate, and the rebate will take 4-6 weeks no doubt. Better to order off Amazon using the standard 10% off code plus the 5% TVGUIDE5, $59.45 shipped plus free 2 day shipping.

BTW Amazon still lists it shipping 4 September, but other places like Costco list 28 Aug..

Who is correct, and is anyone stocking or shipping it _now_, so I can cancel my Amazon order?

Uh, ... the Heroes - Season 1 [HD DVD] (2006) (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000QTD5TS/104-5512729-2463150) reads

Availability: This title will be released on August 28, 2007.

... just like my pre-order invoice.

Mine was reading 4 Sep, but according to Amazon CS the release date was later because it was part of a free-shipping order (along with the $28 _Blade Runner_ 5-disc set).. I canceled it and I can add it with the 28 August date, but if the discount code doesn't work I may just go with Costco online... (hey, maybe if enough people order HDDVD from Costco online they'll actually stock it?! one can dream..)

(BTW, the code got me enough savings to pay for 3-5 day shipping, and yeah, it's BS that Free Shipping orders aren't shipped the same day as others :p)

Actually TMNT was pretty fun if you're a fan of the comic or original show. And the picture quality was indeed stunning, I'd give that a 9/10.

edit: NM, just realized you were talking about the standard DVD...still fun though. :)
