I love to read "paramount is being mean for denying the consumer" and then reading " hell if fox and sony are doing it why cant paramount"


the problem with all of this is, the movie industry had their chance to end this war a long time ago.... they could have not picked any side until a format was 1 whether it was hd-dvd or blu ray....

to say paramount is stupid for doing this is plain ignorant... FOX, MGM, SONY and Disney have been doing this since.... Universal has been doing this as well...

i chose to be neutral because i want any of my favorite movies in a high def platform to see it in HD....

I refuse to support both sides as it will only continue to fuel both sides.

Toshiba and Sony could have ended this a long time ago if they could have just reached some sort of compromise and if they would have done that guess who would have been powerless in this war? MSFT would not have not been able to muck up the whole thing.


Way to go Sony and Toshiba for being so blinded by greed that now both formats at best will reach niche status.

I raise one middle finger for Sony and the other for Toshiba.

ANY exclusive studio that has been that way from the start is VERY different than a neutral studio going to a format that has a 2:1 software disadvantage.

Should they have taken the money? Of course.

Your point of it being "the same thing" is invald though, because it is not the same thing at all.

any neutral studio is fair game.... if hd-dvd pays off a neutral studio... whats wrong with them being exclusive... hell blu-ray has some under their belt and disney and fox could care less about the hd-dvd users... so paramount gets money to be exclusive as well.... the exclusive crap started at the beginning both universal and fox/disney.....

maybe i was wrong with the word same... but this war kind of got dirty... but this move isnt dirty imo

I agree it isn't dirty at all. I have been bashing Tosh for getting out-marketed ALL the time. They finally put their money where their mouth is.

BIG news was needed for HD DVD IMO, and this was as big as it gets. I actually applaud HD DVD for stepping up.

However it sucks more for me now as it seems I will NEVEr get into HDM.:(

BINGO. Sure it's the American way to chase the biggest paycheck (it's certainly the Microsoft way) but that doesn't make it right. A lot of people bought into Blu-Ray when Paramount was dishonestly touting their neutrality.

They're a rental outfit to me...at most. Even if I decide to get a Toshiba at some point.
