What are the best speakers in this price range?

These will be in our family room so they need to be stylish.

I would like to spend around $1,500-$2,000 for two fronts and a center channel.

I've been looking at the Definitive Technology Mythos One, but haven't actually heard them in store, yet.

I will likely pair then with a $400-$600 receiver (KH, Denon, etc).

I have a Velodyne 10" VTS sub that I plan on using.

AV123 strata-mini might be something you want to consider. I think there might be a great deal still going on ( cant confirm that though).

The Kef IQ's are great looking and sounding speakers.

You might take a look at the Canton line, among others.

Take a Look at NHT. Classic 4's would be just under $2k retail, but....
2c or 3c center to match. Great piano black or dark cherry finish and a very smooth round style.

You should really give us a whole lot more info on your preferances for music, asthetic tastes, room, decor, position, and size preferances....... and so on

music vs movie/HT percentage?

room size?

The AV123 site is having a great deal right now on their B-stock page (though it appears they are selling out fast), and they have Rocket 850's for an incredible 1360 pricetag and mini's for 1500, but the mini's are much better for music than HT and are only 86db sensitivity (ie, a little harder to drive if it's a big room). The Rocket 850's are great choice for HT spkrs in most family rooms, and can be driven fairly easily (though, like most HT speakers, they always love more juice).

Others that come to mind -- Swans Diva 6.1 or 6.2, Kef IQ9's, the new B&W 683's, NHT classic 4's, etc etc.

Frankly, for that price point, you can do quite well for yourself wrt spkrs, but we need to have a little better idea of your tastes, etc etc.

Infinity Cascades are also very, very cool looking and have received good reviews.

This will be my first HT. Please advise. Budget is up to $2500 (for speakers+sub). I was planning on going with NHT classic 3 *4 + c center + hsu vtf3 mk3 or vtf2 mk3(this is at the very high end)
rti4 * 4 + csi3 center + pb10-nsd on the low end, saving some money for a new TV.
any other combinations performance/ratio wise? how about onix x-ls?
It will be 75% movies 25% music. room size is 2000 cubic feet, but it is open kitchen and dining room so if you add those, it is 3500 cubic feet. I have a onkyo 905 on order (only piece I have pulled the trigger on so far), so I think that will be enough juice to drive any of the bookshelves at least. You guys probably know what would be better suited to go with Onkyos. But I am also open to receiver suggestions as well. Thanks.

Monitor Audio Silver Series would fit the bill nicely. Focal also make an 800 series speaker, but it might be too pricey.

Quad always makes good looking speakers too.
