Hi all,

I am in the process of auditioning bookshelf speakers to use in a room where speaker placement is tough to do. One option is to put them on top of our current shelf system, but I didn't know if the height would negatively effect the sound.

They would be about 8 ft high (the room has an upside down V ceiling and is about 10 ft. high on the sides and 18 ft. high in the middle.

Thanks!

A general rule of thumb for height would be having the tweeters at ear level for the best sound.

But many people have to make compromises and do the best they can do with what they have. The best you can do is try and see how it sounds to you.

If you place them that high, try flipping them over. That will get the tweeter closer to ear-level and get the woofer closer to the ceiling/wall boundary; both of which would be desirable.

I like tall Skinny speakers!
