This is completely a rhetorical question. I have no insider information. I'm not stating that I think it will happen. I'm not even saying it's probable.

Given the eruption of activity on these boards the last couple of days (and because I'd like to say I predicted this months ago with a post on this board :) )...

I'm just curious how you guys would react if, by the end of 2007:

a) a neutral studio went HD DVD only

or

b) a currently BD-only studio went neutral?

Would it have any effect on you?

I'll be buying Transformers and probably Top Gun on a red case instead of a blue case is it. Probably.

Blades of Glory, I wasn't getting on either, and same with Shrek the Third.

I would continue to sit on the sidelines......................and I am sure many people will continue, just like me.

I could see WB going HD-DVD only. As they have been very light on the BD side. Although when all the specs become final. WB could be more blu. Who knows anything can happen now

I will have bought a bluray player and gone totally neutral so I wouldn't have to worry about any of this stuff anymore.

I like your sig
Universal > Sony
Paramount > Fox
Dreamworks > MGM
Weinstein > Lionsgate

Universal with it's 3.73 PQ average is better than Sony with a 3.94 PQ?
Paramount has a 4.02 PQ average so yes they're better than Fox
Dreamworks only have one title so they can't be better than MGM who have several.
Weinstein has a 3.80 average so they are better than Lions Gate who are last with 3.66

Where is Disney/Pixar/Buena Vista/Hollywood Pictures/Touchstone in your sig though? I don't see them anywhere.

With a PQ and SQ average of 4.19 and 4.38 respectively, the quality of their HD output beats all.

How do you know he's talking about PQ and not movie quality and/or title selection?

Not to mention that I don't think a single number like that can accurately represent a studio's output quality.

I will do exactly what I am doing. I will wait until there is a dual-format option that I can afford and live with. On the other hand, if one format dies before then, I will then buy the winning format, but I will never buy two players under any circumstance.

I'll do the same thing I've been doing all along, buying the movies I want, in HD-DVD if possible, if not, in Blu-Ray. Been doing that since summer '06, my sig backs that up.
