DIY Masking Panels

Alternative method of masking a CIH screen is with masking panels. These can be mounted on a track, and either manually positioned or motorized. Naturally, you will need some space on each side of your screen. These are made from standard MDF materials and then covered with black velveteen.

Might be kinda tough on acoustic reflections. Maybe some extra high density hard board with a layer of rigid fiberglass, then cover. Or an aluminum C channel outer frame with a thick rigid fiberglass middle.

Actually, I was using these to cover wall sockets under the screen.

Perhaps a better panel would be as you said, a MDF or aluminum frame covered with AT material. Just make sure there's enough weight there so they can hang straight.
