Is this a game (this is opinion of course) that will sit on the shelf after 1 or 2 times through?

I played the demo and loved it, but how great will it be after 1 or 2 times through?

That depends on you, I may only play it through once or twice, but I like to keep a good game around for friends to check out also.

I, for one, care for it.

For me it's a buy. I figure that the developers deserve good sales for their effort here. It would be a shame if a game of this caliber sold poorly, and that would lessen any chance for us as gamers to see something this innovative again. Keep in mind, innovation is risk to publishers. They're much happier releasing the same old same old cash cows like Madden that sell well year after year and that pretty much guarantee them a safe and hefty return on their investment. Let's hope that this does not turn into another Psychonauts.

I decided to pick it up on the way home from work this evening. EB games was sold out of all their versions (good sign), but I didn't pre-order, so too bad for me. A few doors down the mall, Zellers (Canadian equivalent of Target) had plenty of copies, so I was able to pick it up there. Talking with the clerk, I was the first all day to do so.

This could mean a number of things:
1. EB games' clients are too lazy to walk a few doors over to buy from a different vendor.
2. The game is popular with the hardcore gamer (presumably EB games' client base), but hasn't even cracked the awareness of the casual gamer. I bet there will be no chance that I pick up the first copy of Halo 3 on release day at Zellers in the late afternoon.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that Bioshock sells a tonne.

People you buy this game. If you don't buy we don't get more games like this. This game will become a classic.

I'm having a hard time with the lack of MP. It's getting awesome reviews (and the brief demo was awesome) but I just don't see it having the lasting appeal no matter how amazing the story is. MP is what keeps me playing other games over and over again.

Just play through it as quick as you can...that way you can trade it in and get a lot of the cost back in credit for Halo 3 :)

I think it's a Rent, but I bought it anyhow. I'll probably be selling it once I'm done with it.

I probably wouldn't have bought it if CC didn't have it for $49.

It depends on what kind of player you are...

If you enjoy multiplayer games, then, this game isn't really geared towards you...

if you like storyline's and an emersive single player environment, then, this is it for the X360...

20 hour single player experience is pretty good for one of these games.

I am willing to pay for a great storyline though...much more so than a multiplayer game..

I thought the game was fair. I enjoyed the potential that I saw, but I also enjoy online games. If a game isn't online, big strike against it in my book. Therefore, I will buy it in one year when it is 20 bucks. Plus I'm poor because my buddy just got married and I had to pay for his night at the casino :(

She looks like a warthog, plus she lived across the hall from me in college and I saw the meatheads that went in that room and didn't leave until the early morning hours. No thanks, he can have her

Buy it, the developer makes their money. Trade it in, you get the majority of yours back. In the end I'll have only lost little more then twice the cost of a rental and this game is well worth that for what it offers.

A buy for me. I love it and can see myself playing this game over again. Gears of War I have yet to replay. I think this game has more then one ending and I know right now I can totally do things a bit different.

As for no multiplayer that is not to big of deal for me. I like having a MP part of game, but hate playing with people I do not know especially with shooters. For me most shooters are a single player game anyways unless I play with people I know which is not very often.

Strong buy. Best release on the 360 so far, in my opinion. Yep, better than Gears.

Tough question to answer. I could definitely understand someone saving 60+ bucks and renting this one. You could probably run through the game fairly quickly without too much frustration on the Medium difficulty.

It is a 15 - 20hr game, but it is a fast 15hrs - meaning you will have long play sessions. The frustration level is very low and the story is great, so you will end up playing for many hours at a time.

I am REALLY enjoying this game, and I don't mind parting with the 60 bucks for it, but if your strapped for cash, renting is certainly not a bad option.

It's almost like buying a very expensive hard cover book when you could have just gone to the library and picked up the paperback.

Some people like owning great books so they can go back to it whenever they want or keep it on display on the book shelf.

Now, if the DLC happens to be some form of multiplayer, I might need to change my answer. Although, the mp would need to be something creative. I'm not interested in Bioshock death match or Bioshock CTF. Halo 3 / COD4 would no doubt be far superior for that.

Ken Levine did say in the gamestrailer interview that very late in the process he figured out a way for mp in Bioshock. So maybe....

Buy.

I like to collect games and then loan them out to my poorer friends who maybe can't (wife wont let them) afford them. I also like to replay really good games. Also, as someone else said the developers should be rewarded for putting out a really good game so they are encouraged to do more. So buy Bioshock and rent or dont play at all Madden (EA needs to not be rewarded quite yet... maybe if they make a little extra effort next year).

Hey buddy! Do you also pay for postage?

Seriously, I think that this is one of those games that is a keeper. If you want to see more games like Bioshock, buy Bioshock and hopefully the developers will get the message and make more.

If Bioshock is not successful, say goodbye to these kinds of games.

I bought it but if money is an issue you may want to rent. Since it has no MP a rental might be best.

I am playing on medium now and when I am finished I will play it again on hard. Will I go back and play it again? It depends. I'm not typically an achievement whore but since this one is SP, I will try my best to get 100% of the achievements.

Buy. I bought the Limited Edition and had a hard time not putting it on ebay. This is Game of the Year material though. Played about 2 hours last night and it was awesome. I do hope they can fix the widescreen though.

Buy. How many games have this type of depth, graphics, and game length these days. They deserve to get paid for their work. This is the traditional FPS the way it was meant to be.

As for no MP, just how many cookie cutter multiplayer deatchmatch this, capture the flag that type of games do you need? I never could understand how someone can just play the same type of game doing the same thing over and over again...... run shoot die...run shoot die...run shoot die...Typical MP games like Quake, Halo, Unreal Tourney's etc. are all the same to me just different maps.

Anyways, BUY.

Wasted your Money!! Why? Because you've already played a hundred games just like Bioshock? This game is so innovative, original, impressive and fun. I don't even like FPS games all that much and I am blown away by the quality of this game. You better enjoy this game.....there are poor starving kids in India who will never get to play it!

I wasn't planning getting this game until I played the demo and read the reviews. I'm not usually the type to play a game more than once so I was reluctant to buy a game with only a single player campaign. But this game is definately a step up from most games out there. It's very immersive and does everything very well. I'm glad I picked this up cause I know I'll be going through this game again.

he's allowed to his opinion, though I don't agree. I find it truly refreshing to have this atmosphere and story. I find myself feeling for one of the few times in this gen of gaming that I'm actually in rapture. Not many games really suck you in like bioshock.

I've never been the one to respect opinions. Too much time working as a scientist I guess (if it can't be quantified or qualified, it's crap!). That being said, my opinion is that if you don't like this game then you either don't know what a good game is or you have a serious lack of taste. Hey but, that's just my opinion.;)

I bought the game and I enjoy it, but save your money and stick with the regular edition. The Big Daddy figure is kewl, the cd was too short and the bonus dvd (meh). I like the cover on the regular edition better.

Sounds to me as if you're doing a lot of dying, maybe that's why you're not into it. For me it's more like run, shoot, kill, shoot, kill, shoot, kill, shoot, kill, shoot, kill, and so on. ;)

I'd say buy, but I buy all my games for the single player first and multiplayer as an afterthought since I suck at online versus and therefore rarely play. It's a catch-22. If I just sucked it up and played deathmatches, I'd probably get better at them. Then again, maybe not.

Buy it...Played through the first 2 hours or so and its certainly worth the money.

Unless you had a lot of time to dedicate to the game I dont think you could fully enjoy this great title by renting it.

It'll probaly take longer than a week to beat it with playing other games also,so It's a buy for me.I agree that if we don't buy the different (but great) games the developers won't continue making them.Wether you can beat it in a rented week or if it'll take you longer, send the message to the industry with your wallet, letting them know this is what we want and appreciate.
