Just purchased a multichannel capable DVD player and and getting excited about purchasing some SACDs. Where do I go to find a multichannel cable and what will I likely spend for one?

Thanks.

For SACD, you would use 6 regular interconnects, probably with RCA connectors on them.

Hi, You can get these Cables at RAM here is a link:

http://www.ramelectronics.net/html/analog_audio_cables.html

Scroll down to the 5.1 Audio Cables. I bought them as they are much neater than buying 6 seperate cables, it is all in 1 Wire very neat and they work rather well I have a Set for DVD-A/SACD MC Music!!

Axiom Audio makes a nice six-cable set for a reasonable sum. I've been using it between my Denon 2900 and 3805 for a couple years and am very happy with the performance and their service.

Monoprice rules. I got 6 pairs or premium stereo rca cables. Inexpensive and very good quality. :D

Are these the cables from Monoprice you are referring to?

http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=102&cp_id=10218&cs_id=1021803&p_id=2864&seq=1&format=2&style=

And I would only need 3 pair, right?

Those are the ones. I got the 3' ones though. Yes you would only need 3 pair, my mistake. I actually bought 9 pairs. 2 X 5.1 devices --> switch --> reciever.

I don't think they're selling them, anymore.

You can also use two pairs of component cables. :)

Don't settle for cheap poorly made RCA cables. I recommend bluejeancables.

What about the Monster and Acoustic Research 5.1 analog SACD/DVD-A cables?

I've been thinking about ordering either of these:

1. Acoustic Research 2M PR-136 Pro II Series 5.1 SACD/DVDA Audio Cable Set ($37 shipped)
2. Monster SACD/DVD-Audio Cable - I400MKII SACD-2M ($50 shipped)

Which one do you guys think would be best?

[Please note that this isn't a permanent set up. I plan on buying a new HDMI 1.3 receiver before the end of the year so that I can output PCM and DSD directly to the receiver digitally.]

It really doesn't matter. Both those prices are pretty good prices. Any 6 analog cables will work; 3 pairs of R/L audio cables, 2 pairs of component video cables. Buying a set that is specifically marketed for 6-channel SACD/DVD-A connection will give you 6 different color-coded ends and they may all be inter-connected to provide for some neatness; but that's the only difference.

And instead of just throwing your choices out there, provide us with some links links. No one really wants to have to do a websearch just to find your products.

When I brought home my universal player over 6 years ago, I had it connected and working within 15 minutes of arriving home. I think I had one DVD-Audio disc to my name, but I was so excited to make this jump, that I immediately scrounged up some cheap component cables and made it happen. I haven't looked back and in fact I know that I still use one set of those same cheapo component cables on my setup. My point being, SCROUNGE UP SOME OLD CABLES NOW! To wait for an internet order, or to ask advice before making an internet order seems like a huge waste of time. You could be enjoying your music now from what you've got in your basement or laying in the tangle behind the tv. Upgrade later.
