Hi,
I am buying the Samsung LNT4661F 46" LCD from BestBuy, and need some advice about installation. I am wall-mounting the TV, and don't think I can do it myself. There will need to be wires going through the wall to connect PS3, DVD player, etc, to the TV from the back, hidden from view. Do you think Best Buy's installation service is good enough? Or should I go with an inpendent installation company? I live in the Fort Wayne, IN area, so any other specifics would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks

Just a heads up with using Best Buy or any professional installation company and hiding wires inside the wall. Most of the installation packages I looked from them do provide for hiding the audio and video cables up to 15 feet from your main equipment. The one biggie, is none of them will conceal the TV power cord inside the wall, so prepare for that if you want a totally hidden wire look. Have an electrican install an outlet prior.

Do you plan on having surge protection on the TV? I would. I was faced with that issue when I installed my LCD and looked into a way to do it. I looked at having an electrician (actually my buddy) install just another outlet, but that wouldn't protect my expensive TV. Look into having a Powerbridge (http://www.powerbridgesolution.com) installed and buying a good quality surge protector. Just my advise.

I have a Samsung 4061 mounted in my bedroom and a 4661 mounted in my family room and I did them both myself. It requires a little forethought but it is not difficult at all.

I have a company in bloomington, IN that would hide all your wires for a clean look. To be honest it would not be cost efficient to come to FW to do that. If you want a good way to hide the wires get a panamax inwall to go in behind your TV. Then have an electrician run the power to that. BTW a good installation company should hide all of your wires. (unless there is no way to get around the studs in your wall) Here is a link to what it would look like.

Sam, I looked at the Panamax inwall power, and it's $300.00, not installed. I found the Powerbridge (http://www.powerbridgesolution.com) for $50.00, just fyi, and does basically the same thing, for $250 less, except you need a wall plate to run the av cables through to finish off the hole, that was $2.00!

I know the panamax is expensive, I also know that it has a built in surge protector and line protector. With that being said I prefer it cause of how it looks and I know it is going to work, and I am sure that you can find one that is less expensive and does the same thing. I have used the panamax inwall on numerous occasions and find it easy to install and it is recessed. I have used the wall plates with connectors for your RGB and Audio inputs, and found that not having a recessed plate limits the tilt on most mounts. It is just a personal preference and when it comes to putting my video feed under undo stress I dont like it for the Cable or the TV. Also I dont know anything about the powerbridge and thank you for that info, I will look that up and get more knowledgeable about it!

HDTV... You know if powerbridge is going to come out with a recessed feed for HDMI or Component CAbles. It looks pretty good though. Thanks for the info.

I have no idea if they are offering any cable connection plates, I checked the website and all I see is the powerbridge stuff. You should be able to find recessed HDMI plates on line if you google, I haven't done that, because I'm "pro" no-wall-plate connections for cables, as they really serve no advantage to performance and may actually cause performance issues with having multiple connection points from the source to TV. I was always told, direct connection straight is best for AV connections... Just my opinion.

I agree with you on that (the direct connection is better...and anytime you simplify is better in my opinion), but from owning a company stand-point it looks unprofessional and sloppy. It is a double-edged sword in a way.

BTW the panamax that is 300 dollars is not what I was suggesting. I was suggesting the MAX IN-WALL™ POWER 3BAY and it retails at 70 dollars. You then would need to buy an insert for it, or you could take the plate off and run your direct connection to your tv. and it is also recessed and allows for upgrades in the future. I just really realized you said $300 for what I was suggesting, sorry I am so slow on the uptake. I still appreciate you informing me of other options. The 300 dollars is not what I was suggesting.
