I building a basement theater and will be placing all my components behind the back theater wall, in an area under my stairs. I am also thinking of putting my sub in the "under the stairs" area and placing the port near a 6 inch sized grill opening. I'd do so to keep the theater "stuff" out of the way of my kiddies and to keep a clean look (the Elemental Designs A3 clashes a bit with my decor too). Anyone got this type of setup and/or reasons not to? Thanks in advance!

It's really would be impossible to predicict the results for something like that in advance. There could be a a lot of variables. I would suggest trying it out with a temporary setup to see how it sounds before making anything permanent.
This is an old tread, but I just joined up and had a similar question. I would like to place my sub behind my HT wall in a hall closet. Would I need to vent this wall or is this a bad idea altogether? I have a 10" B&W sub.
Thanks.

it's pretty much a terrible idea IMO. but like anything, it's worth a try to see if you like it.

I imagine the results would be similar to putting the sub in a closet... but like anything it would be worth trying (in a non permanent solution) to see how it sounds...:p
That's not the 1st time I've heard that. I guess I could try it and if it's bad move it back.
